Janice Enrico 1) What are some things (lessons, best practices, strategies, information etc.) that you gained from participating in this Homeland Security Professional and curriculum development session? Some of the things that I gained from participating in this Homeland Security Professional and curriculum development session include the great motivation from various speakers which is a good driving force to incorporate DHS in our lessons for students¶ greater awareness. I have learned more about the 21st century strategies which are more relevant for the students like using vodcast and interactive technology. I have also gained personally from the workshop because I was able to produce a vodcast with my teacher-partner and also learned from other¶s presentation. This made me confident to teach vodcasting to students. The network of professional is also morale boosting, I could tell my students who I¶ve met from DHS and who they can be in the future. 2) Why do you believe it is important to integrate Homeland Security concepts into already existing curriculum and how can the students benefit from the inclusion of those topics? I believe it is important to integrate Homeland Security concepts into the existing curriculum for the following reasons; for one,the department is part of the country that students need to be aware of and another is integrating DHS in the lesson is an opportunity for students to take care of their growth academically and personally for future employment opportunities within DHS, not to undermine the fact that 21st century learning is the most recent trend in education that has real world impact both for teacher and student at that.
