A 6m long pipe is inclined at an angle of 20° with the horizontal.the smaller section of the pipe which is at lower level is of 100mm diameter and the longer section of the pipe is of 300mm diameter .if the pipe is uniformly tapering and the velocity of water at the smaller section is 1.8 m/s.determine the difference of pressure between two sections. A conical tube is fixed vertically with its smaller end upwards and it forms a part of pipeline.the velocity at the smaller end is 4.5 m/s and at the larger end 1.5 m/s.length of conical tube is 1.5 m.the pressure at the upper end is equivalent to a head of 10m of water. 1) Neglecting friction ,determine the pressure at lower end of the tube 2)if head lost in tube is ,where v1 is the velocity at the smaller end and v2 is the velocity at the larger end, determine the pressure at lower end. A 400mm diameter shaft is rotating at 200rpm in a bearing of length 120mm.if the thickness of oil film is 1.5mm and the dynamic viscosity of the oil is 0.7 N.s/m2 ,determine the torque required to overcome friction in bearing, power utilized in overcoming viscous resistance. Two large fixed parallel planes are 12mm apart.the space between the surface is filled with oil of viscosity 0.972N.s/m2 .a flate thin plate 0.25m2 area moves through the oil at a velocity of 0.3 m/s.calculate the drag force. 1) When the plate is equidistance from both the plane 2) When the thin plate is at a distance of 4mm from one of the plane surface. Water flows through a pipe AB of 1.2m diameter at 3m/s and then passes through a pipe BC 1.5m in diameter.at C the pipe branches.branch CD is 0.8m in diameter and carries one-third of the flow in AB.the flow velocity in branch CE is 2.5m/s.find the volume rate of flow in AB,the velocity in CD and the diameter of CE A 25cm diameter pipe carries oil of sp.gr 0.9 at a velocity of 3m/s.at another section the diameter is 20cm.find the velocity at this section and also mass rate of flow of oil.
