What is your best subject in school? Why?

Even though I excel in all subjects, my strongest abilities lie in math. Math is not only my strongest subject but it is my most favorite subject as well. More specifically I enjoy solving word problems that are based on real life examples. Math helped to strengthen my thinking and problem solving skills. In middle school, I was on a Math Counts team, and we won the district championship competition. I was always placed into the advanced math classes in elementary and middle schools. My math skills helped me to excel in 8th grade Science as well. In science labs, It was much easier to compute volume, density, and mass.
What are you best at doing (i.e., what is your greatest talent)? Explain your choice.

My greatest talent is in research. I have been regularly participating in science fair since 4th grade. Multiple times, my project was showcased in Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair. I am passionate about conducting research on topics related to environmental science. Being a Bangladeshi, I am concerned about global warming and climate change. Researchers predict that by 2050 seventeen percent of Bangladesh will be submerged into the ocean as a result of climate change. Among all of the research projects I was involved in my most favorite research was investigating the role of greenhouse gases in shaping earth¶s future.
If you could spend one entire day learning about one topic, what would it be? Why?

I am passionate to learn about the impact of climate change and how well the earth can adapt to it. If I could spend the entire day learning about any topic, I would want to learn about climate change. I would spend the day visiting the Nicholas School in Duke University to learn about the research entitled Trees µDuke it Out¶ with Global Warming conducted by Prof. James Clark. The research created a forest in an environment that is similar to the environment of late 21st century to investigate how today¶s forest trees will adapt to the change if global climate change results in increased temperature. I would love to listen to a lecture on the subject or talk to the research team.
