You had no right to use the public sidewalk.” The dog fanatic comforted and soothed his pet The seriously injured man he continued to berate “Don’t think you will get anything done about this. My precious Brutus was only defending his home.” That Brutus had bitten several others he kept hid The vicious brute must be protected at any cost The victim moaned as the sidewalk turned crimson In fact, no action was taken against the noble Brutus How different it was only a century ago When threats were handled sensibly Human welfare was the main consideration For dog worshipers had not yet appeared
