Program to provide uplo-date guidelinesfor what to do with pines killed by Pitch Canker disease With funds from communitysupporters and a California ReLeaf/National Urban Forestry grant, Greenspace has launched the latest educational program in its five-year fight against the deadly diseasethat may kill 80-90%of Cambria's pines in the coming decade. This summer Greenspace will partner with Coast Unified SchoolDistict to offer a youth work/study program dealing with environmentalprojects. The new six-week progftrm will focus mainly on forest mzrnagement creek bed enhancement the Cambria area. and in This programwill be administered underthe district's Schoolto-Work Program.It will give 20 students,ages 16 to 18, a chance eam schoolcreditsas well as somemoney. to Participantswill be trained to develop skills and to increase sensitivityto, andknowledge about,localenvironmental issues.
