Whether you‟re chasing a 600-pound deadlift, trying to lift 3 plates-per-side on the bench or just want to pick up your 4 year-old nephew without blowing out your back, there are a lot of reasons to work on getting stronger. However, so many trainees stall in their attempts to add major pounds to their lifts and have no idea how to bust those plateaus. Here are 7 reasons why your not getting stronger and just what you can do about it.

Reason 1: You’re Not Training With The Correct Intensity
Strength is loosely defined as your ability to lift or move a maximal load one time. So why are you sticking with the same old „3 sets of 8 to 12 rep‟ program in your attempt to get stronger? In order to add pounds to your lifts, you need to train closer to your one repetition maximum. Utilizing set and rep schemes such as 5 sets of 5 reps or 8 sets of 3 reps or established powerlifting protocols such as 5-3-1 will get you training with higher intensities and, ultimately lead to you moving heavier and heavier loads.

Reason 2: You’ve Been On The Same Program Far Too Long
Even the greatest of strength training protocols will only work for so long. If you‟ve been banging your head against the wall trying to progress with the same program, no matter how great and proven it is, for the past 6 months, try a new strategy. Adhere to the law of diminishing returns and develop a completely different strength quality (like hypertrophy) for a 4 or 6 week cycle and then come back to your strength training. It may just help you roll right through new personal bests in your big lifts.

Reason 3: You’re Training Environment Blows
If you‟ve been training at Globo-Gym where walking on the treadmill while reading the latest gossip magazine is the standard for a hardcore workout, maybe it‟s time to find a new gym where other members have similar goals to your own. Being around likeminded individuals in an encouraging environment will push you harder than you will ever be able to push yourself. Plus training around other strong men and women will open you up to getting good advice on technique, proper spotting and may net you a new workout partner who will inspire and motivate you to lift hard and heavy. Think where you train doesn‟t matter? Studies have shown that just having multiple other people simply watch you attempt a big lift will add pounds to your totals.

Reason 4: You’re Not Focused on Recovery
You may think that your gains come when you are in the gym, but truth is most of the positive adaptations to training happen while you rest. When trying to get stronger getting adequate sleep (7-9 hours per night) is critical for an optimal hormonal environment and to restore energy for training. So cutting back on “Tequila Tuesdays” with your buddies may be a good idea. The other factor to focus on outside the gym is proper nutrition. You want to make sure you are getting ample calories, upping your protein intake and focusing on high quality foods - so those chimichangas that came along with “Tequila Tuesdays” are also out.

Reason 5: You’re Never Setting Goals
It‟s no secret that people perform better when they have goals. The problem is that goals that are unspecific - to lose weight, to get stronger, to get toned for Summer - are impossible to measure and, therefore, never get accomplished. Set very specific performance goals with actual dates and then back out a plan on how to get it done. Doing 3 chinups by November 15th is a tangible goal that is attainable. Wanting to get strong and do some pull ups, is not.

Reason 6: You’re Not Moving Effectively
Eventually, passion, desire, guts and strength will only take you so far. Ultimately, to reach your strength potential you are going to have to move and perform the exercise as efficiently as possible. This may mean working on your power clean technique, developing more mobility in your hips and ankles or using supplemental exercises to fix weaknesses or power leaks. Remember, a chain is only as strong as it‟s weakest link. Simply performing more and more of the same exercise may not fix the problem.

Reason 7: You’re Not Gutsy Enough

Quite frankly, getting under a bar with more weight than you‟ve ever loaded before can be a somewhat frightening experience. Many times fear, doubt and lack of self-confidence will hold you back more than your actual physical abilities. Try utilizing visualization techniques, playing some hype music and letting out a loud roar when you lift to get yourself psyched and break through the fear factor often associated with max effort lifts. Your PRs will be much higher if you do.

Equipoise is a steroid compound that can give users slow but steady gains during a cycle. It is also relatively safe with very few reports of the side effects caused by testosterone conversion into estrogen. For bodybuilders, it should be used with some testosterone as Equipoise can cause sexual dysfunction. Equipoise’s long lasting ester means it should be used for a minimum 12-week cycle.

It is a derivative of testosterone, which exhibits strong anabolic and moderately androgenic properties. The undecylenate ester greatly extends the activity of the drug (the undecylenate ester is only one carbon atom longer than decanoate), so that clinically injections would need to be repeated every three or four

weeks. In the veterinary feild Equipoise is most commonly used on horses, exhibiting a pronounced effect on lean bodyweight, appetite and general disposition of the animal. As with all steroids, this compound shows a marked ability for increasing red blood cell production. In recent years this compound has become a favorite among athletes. While there is still a chance of encountering an estrogen related side effect as such when using Equipoise, problems are usually not encountered at a moderate dosage level. Gynecomastia might become a problem, but usually only with very sensitive individuals or (again) with those using higher dosages. If estrogenic effects become a problem, the addition of Nolvadex should of course make the cycle more tolerable. An anti-aromatase such as Arimidex, Femara, or Amonasin would be a stronger option, however probably not necessary with such a mild drug. Although typically dosage related, Equipoise can also produce distinct androgenic side effects. Oily skin, acne, increased aggression and hair loss are all possible with this compound. Women find this drug quite comfortable, virilization symptoms usually unheard of when taken at low doses. Boldenone does reduce to a more potent androgen (dihydroboldenone) via the 5alpha reductase enzyme (which produces DHT from testosterone), however its affinity for this interaction in the human body is low to nonexistent. Therefore the reductase inhibitor Proscar would not be of much use with Equipoise, as it would be blocking what is at best an insignificant path of metabolism for the steroid. Although this drug is relatively mild, it still has a depressive effect on endogenous testosterone levels, therefore a proper post cycle therapy HCG and Clomid/Nolvadex is needed at the conclusion of each cycle to avoid a “crash”. A waiting time of around 3 weeks is required before starting PCT, enabling enough of the drug to clear one’s system to make PCT effective. In order to maintain stable blood levels, Equipoise should be injected at least once per week. It is most commonly used at a dosage of 400-600mg per week for men, 50-150 mg per week for women. Equipoise is not a rapid mass builder, but will provide a slow but steady gain of strength and quality muscle mass. The result should be an incredible gain of muscle size and strength, without the same intensity of side effects if using the androgen (at a higher dose) alone. When used in a cutting cycle, muscle hardness and density can be greatly improved when combining Equipoise with a non-aromatizable steroid such as trenbolone acetate, Halotestin, or Winstrol. For some however, even the low buildup of estrogen associated with this compound is enough to relegate its use to bulking cycles only. Equipoise is not an ideal steroid for the drug tested athlete however. This drug has the tendency to produce detectable metabolites in the urine months after use, a worry most commonly associated with Deca-Durabolin. This is of course due to the high oil solubility of long chain esterified injectable steroids, a property which enables the drug to remain deposited in fatty tissues for extended periods of time. While this will reliably slow the release of steroid into the blood stream, it also allows small residual amounts to remain present in the body far after the initial injection. The release of stubborn stores of hormone would no doubt also be enhanced around contest time, a period when the athlete drastically attempts to mobilize unwanted body fat. If enough were used in the off-season, the athlete may actually fail a drug screen for boldenone although many months may have past since the drug was last injected.

Equipoise was actually created while attempting to make a product which would be be a long acting injectable d-bol (Methandrostenolone). What was actually created was a product which, in the real world acts nothing like D-bol, despite its similarity to it chemically. A simple way to think of Equipoise, chemically at least, is simply as Dianabol without the 17-alpha-methyl group (thats the thing which makes D-bol able to be ingested orally and not be destroyed by your liver). However, having had first hand experience with both Equipoise as well as D-bol, I can tell you that the results from each are vastly different.

To make Equipoise, a double bond was added between carbon atoms 1 and 2 of the Steran Nucleus of Testosterone. What does this mean? Well, first of all, since Equipoise was created by one simple modification in the testosterone molecule, you could rightly suspect that it shares many similarities with it. Equipoise is just as anabolic as testosterone (as you can tell by its anabolic rating above), but only half asandrogenic. Those ratings can be quite deceiving though, as I don't know anyone who would claim that you can gain as much weight on Equipoise as you can gain on an equal amount of testosterone (even though strength gains from the two compounds are very similar). Its not very common to compare Equipoise to testosterone; however a far more common comparison is between Equipoise and Deca. I suspect this is because when Dan Duchaine introduced this compound to the steroid using community, he made an immediate comparison to Deca, speculating that it would act similarly to Deca but like a much stronger version of it. Equipoise doesn't actually act much like deca at all; Deca is actually a progestin and a 19-nor derived steroid whereas Equipoise is more closely related to testosterone (being only one double bond differ rent). Duchaine later rescinded his original statement on Equipoise and said that it was disappointing as a mass builder when compared with deca, but a far better drug than for both strength gains and vascularity. Unfortunately, the myth that Equipoises action is similar to Deca's has persisted for nearly 2 decades after he revised his opinion; this is most evident on internet message boards today, where many will advise against including both of them in a cycle because "they act the same way." The 1-2 double bond that Equipoise has is responsible for many of its characteristics. First of all, it acts to slow aromatization (conversion into estrogen). The best estimate is that it does so at roughly half the rate of testosterone (1). This is the best number Ive found in studies. Athletes almost never report estrogenic side effects with Equipoise, even when the dose is up to a gram per week. Side effects caused by estrogen include oily skin, acne, and gynocomastia, and as I said, those are usually not found from Equipoise. Virilization (development of male sexual characteristics in women) is almost never seen with this compound, when reasonable doses are used by female athletes. This is one of the few injectable compounds which could be successfully be used by female athletes and bodybuilders, and isn't often faked.

Clinical Equipoise and Athletes

That double bond is also responsible for Equipoises resistance for being changed by the 5- 5-Alpha-reductase enzyme (2)(3). This enzyme converts a small amount of Boldenone into Dihydroboldenone, which is a very potentandrogen (7x as anabolic as testosterone)(4). As I said though, such a small amount of it is converted that its really of no concern to most athletes taking Equipoise. This factor, plus its low aromatization rate mean athletes don't need to consider using ancillaries with Equipoise. Athletes taking Equipoise often report a slow and constant buildup of quality muscle, and certainly this has been my experience with the drug. I would speculate that this slow buildup of muscle is due to the very long ester attached to the Boldenone; Undeclynate is a longer ester than the decanoate ester by one carbon. Thus, we could expect the accumulation of muscle from Equipoise to actually occur at a slightly slower rate than that found with Deca (nandrolone decanoate). This leads me to advise that if you are considering the use of Equipoise, you should consider using it for no less than 12 weeks. Equipoise, like Deca, is also detectable in your system for a long time (although it is substantially less than Deca's detection time).

Strangely, shorter estered versions of Boldenone are available as well. Anecdotally, many people (and manufacturers) claim that this produces less water retention...but water retention from Equipoise is virtually unheard of, so I consider this to be a silly idea. An informal poll I took on Steroid.com (as well as with my friends) seems to put the ideal dose of Equipoise at 600mgs/week. Most people I asked about their Equipoise experience with Equipoise seemed to think that using over 600mgs/week produced no additional results, but the jump from 400mgs/week to 600mgs/week produced noticeable additional gains, and thus was warranted. I have personally found very nice results from 400mgs-600mgs/week myself.

Equipoise Side Effects
One of the most pronounced effects in Equipoise is its ability to raise your RBCs (red blood cells). This is very typical of anabolic steroids; however, Equipoise would appear to do it to a slightly greater degree than most. One of the other effects most Equipoise users report is an increased appetite. I can say that this is true of me, also; this factor makes it impossible for me to diet on it. Its because of this ability to increase appetite that many will include Equipoise in a mass cycle, and its for the quality of muscle gained on it that many will include it in a cutting cycle. Its probably the most versatile injectable compound, next to testosterone. People even use a low dosed version of Equipoise to blend with irritating injectable drugs suck as testosterone suspension or Propionate. Im thinking of the old Ganabol version which was dosed at 50mgs/ml, here... its not that Equipoise is especially good to cut other steroids with, but the low dose and cost of Ganabol made it ideal to do this with, when sterile oil wasn't available or desirable. This low dosed version was also very popular with women, who were comfortable shooting 1cc of this stuff every few days or every week. Equipoise will cause a suppression of your hormones, such as endogenous testosterone, so I would also recommend using injectable testosterone in any cycle containing it. Failure to do so could result in possible sexual dysfunction and other sides.

Finally, when you buy equipoise, one of the best parts of Equipoise is its low price and high availability. Equipoise is produced by most Underground Labs at very reasonable prices. You shouldn't be paying more than $50 for a 10cc bottle dosed at 200mgs/ml, and that price is true of Mexican veterinary products and underground labs alike. Id have to say that due to its incredible versatility, availability, and low price, Equipoise is going to be a staple in many cycles for a long time.
