Barbour, Scott, ed. Alcohol. Farmington Hills: Greenhaven Press, 2006. Print. Opossing Viewpoints. Barbour’s book talks about the affects of alcohol and how alcohol affected the American society, and changed the way we view alcohol and also the limitations on alcohol. This book helped me understand the background information about alcohol and how it has become such a big part in American culture and how limitations needed to be implemented in order to preserve public safety. Lerner, Barron. One for the Road: Drunk Driving Since 1900. Baltimore: The John Hopkins University Press, 2011. Google Books. Web. 22 Sept. 2013. Barron’s book gave a more in-depth overview of drunk driving, and its history and how it has increased over the years leading to about 25,000-800,000 annual alcohol related deaths and car crashes. This source helped me understand how serious drunk driving was and how serious the consequences were.

This article talked about how changes regarding drunk driving are now being made, but some people are getting in the way of some of these new bills that are trying to be passed. This article showed me that not everyone was for, passing laws regarding drunk driving, some people were against it and thought that it should be the drivers own risk. Shaw, Gaylord. "Victims Are MADD and Want Justice." Los Angeles Times [Los Angeles] 3 Nov. 1981: 1-2. Print. Shaw’s article explains how our society in the past has been known for giving unequal consequences for unequal crimes. Shaw brings up an old case referring to when a man was charged with car theft has to spend two years in jail and how a drunk driver who killed their son had to pay a $200 fee. This article really made me think to how corrupt our justice system really is and how drunk driving is a very serious crime and their needs to be harsher consequences.

Opposing Viewpoints. Alcohol talks about alcohol in a general perspective and how underage drinking is a big problem and that more than half of the alcohol-related fatalities can be prevented by not

This source is against MADD, and gives me information about how MADD has negatively impacted civilian rights, including being able to go to war and vote and not being able to drink a beer.

This source showed me both sides to this rigorous debate and the reasons, such as being able to fight for your country but not being able to drink a beer after.
