Commodore’s Cruise to Petaluma

Photo: Linda Wolfe

Thank you to Commodore Larry and Linda Wolfe for organizing a great cruise to Petaluma over Father’s Day Weekend. After a rough San Pablo Bay crossing on Friday, even the weatherman cooperated with sunny, breezy warm weather the rest of the weekend. Highlight of the cruise was the tour of Keller Estate Winery and the incredible collection of antique automobiles garaged at the winery. Larry reported that it took months of telephone tag to arrange the trip but all agreed it was well worth it. In addition to 9 NVYC boats, many members arrived by Land Yacht to join the fun.

It is also the time of the year to take stock and review the goals that we set for ourselves and evaluate how well we have fulfilled those expectations. mprovements being made to the galley and bathrooms are finished. These projects would not have been possible without the donated time and energy by many of our members. Power on the dock is still being worked on to fix some glitches but the work is intended to make our dock safer. Fleet Captain Bob Magoon needs cruisers to sign up for the Marin Yacht Club cruise on September 10,11,12 and the following Blue Water cruise from September 12-19. You can go to our website to sign up. Bob needs this info by the end of July...these cruise-outs take a lot of planning and reservations with the participating clubs. NVYachtClub2010 Here’s the schedule of cruiseins for the rest of the year. Members are always invited to come down to the club and join the fun, greet the cruisers and see the boats.

I

We all volunteer in an allvolunteer organization. None of us is compelled to do so but we do it for the “club” and, you are the “club”. We are on a roll. The big projects are behind us. Hang on. The real fun is just about to begin.

Western Night on June 11 brought out the boots and hats. It was a far cry from the shootout at OK Corral but it sure was fun!

Commodore Larry traded his bars for a cowboy hat...George Cliff helped with tri-tip.

Bob Gurley’s boots from his younger days on an Avocado ranch.

Hosts Wolfe & Champlin provided a bottle of “Old Nag Rot Gut” on each table. No one died. Tom Lupori, (l) Lili Keating’s guest, and Mark Lessler loved being cowboys for an evening. Linda Wolfe & Lynne Champlin were in charge of the chuckwagon.

Laurie Wolfe & Marlon Mezquita; guests of
Larry and Linda.
