Dear Parade Applicant:
This year, the Light Up Lakewood Committee expects the festival parade to draw huge crowds as
Lakewood and area residents enjoy day-long festivities a beautiful lighting ceremony and fireworks in the
night sky. We are inviting you to join our parade ranks to help ring in the season. Enclosed please find
an application for the Light Up Lakewood parade which will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at
5:00 p.m.
The application must be completely filled out in order to participate. Please return your
application to the address on the application form by Friday, November 20, 2015. An email will be
sent to you approximately one week before December 5th confirming your placement and providing more
details about the parade.
Don’t Forget! – Parade participants will be judged on the following three categories: Best of
Show, Best Use of Lights, & Most Spirited. Groups in the parade who dress up in
winter/Christmas themed costumes will also be eligible for the Best Group Costume Award.

LIGHT UP LAKEWOOD PARADE
GENERAL INFORMATION
PARADE DATE:
Saturday, December 5, 2015 (sunshine, rain, sleet, or snow)
PARADE TIME:
5:00 p.m.
PARADE ROUTE: West on Detroit Avenue, from Manor Park to approximately Arthur Avenue.
LINE-UP TIME:
4:15 p.m.
LINE-UP LOCATION: On Detroit Avenue, West of Manor Park to Bunts
Parade participants who are NOT driving their vehicles in the parade may park their vehicles at a
location of their choosing or at the parking options indicated with the parade commitment letter.
Neither the Light Up Lakewood Committee nor LakewoodAlive is responsible for any vehicles parked
by parade participants.
Parade officials will be available to provide line-up and route information. They will be easily
identifiable.
RULES
Motorized units in the parade must arrive no later than 4:00 p.m. (Safety Reasons)
We continue to get vehicles to show up late. This is a serious safety concern. Please be on time
No more than one commercial vehicle per organization will be permitted, unless prior approval is
provided by the Parade Committee.
No smoking while riding or walking in the parade.
Once you received your placement in the Parade, there will not be any changes
Due to safety concerns, NO ONE WILL BE PERMITTED TO THROW CANDY OR OTHER OBJECTS
FROM CARS, FLOATS OR OTHER MOVING VEHICLES!
Participants may walk alongside vehicles and hand out candy and other items to spectators. Please
note: Participants may be asked to leave the parade if this rule is violated.
