1. Will
- it expresses a future action
-it is used for requests, voluntary actions, promises
a) Affirmative – S + will + verb
I will call your manager if the situation will not improve.
She will cook you a warm meal.
My colleagues will buy some food later.
b) Interrogative - Will + S + verb?

Answers

Will you clean the house for me, please?

Yes, I will.

Will they drive the car?

No, I will not/ won’t

- I will take care of the dog, I promise!

c) Negative – S + will + not + verb
I will not tolerate this behavior!
He won’t sleep until you read him a story.

2. To be going to
- it expresses a planned action and a conclusion based on true facts (Look at those clouds! It is going to rain!)
a) Affirmative – S + to be going to + verb
Now I have enough money so I am going to buy that dress.
She is going to visit her relatives in France next year.
Call 911, she is going to give birth!
b) Interrogative – to be + S + going to + verb?

Answers

You have such an appetite. Are you going to eat all the pie?

Yes, I am.

Who is going to buy the presents?

No, I am not/ I’m not.

c) Negative – S + to be + not + going to + verb
I am not going to wash the baby.

their honeymoon. They are going to travel to Hawaii. They are going to stay there for 7 days. They will have a
good time in Hawaii!
