Pitt 1 Brad Pitt Mr. Smilgelski English 1A 30 September 2013 A Lot Has Changed Imagine there was a remote control that could control the universe. If the fast-forward button were pressed, one would clearly be able to see all the change that has occurred since the beginning of life. One would be able to see the movement of the continents from as early as Pangaea, and one would be able to see the process of evolution affecting all the life forms. A lot has happened since the beginning of Earth. Charles Darwin created his theory of evolution after he noticed the differences in the finches on the Galapagos Islands. The beaks and the sizes of the finches were different based on what island he was on. In the end, he theorized that the finches had a common ancestor, and over time, the finches had evolved to be different based on the island they were on. Darwin’s work showed mankind of the changes that have happened on Earth. Scientists have proved that there was a super continent over three hundred million years ago. This super continent, otherwise known as Pangaea, broke apart around two hundred million years ago and began to slowly move to where the continents are now. Darwin’s theory of evolution is evidence of Pangaea because there are similar species of plants and animals on the different corners of Earth. Fossils of the same species of dinosaur have been found on different continents. Lystrosaurus fossils have been found in West Africa, India, and Australia. Another bit of evidence that can prove Pangaea is the matching geological trends between the eastern coast of South America and the western coast of Africa. Basically, it is how eastern South America looks like it can fit up against western Africa.
