“ABORTION”
When we hear the word “ABORTION” there are a lot of things that comes into our mine just like---MURDERER, SIN, HUMAN RIGHTS and a lot more. But then, have you posted a question in your mind of what abortion really is? Why do people specially mother-to-be commit this? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this? Of what action does our government or our society do about this ABORTION? Perhaps we are aware that there is abortion, but the depth of our learning about this sensitive issue isn’t that deep. So then, let us know what it is. Since it is very important for us to learn about this thing specially us, girls, who are teenagers also that most likely do abortions due to some reasons that aren’t valid sometimes. So let’s begin with this question ‘what is abortion?’ There are a lot of definitions as to what abortion is in the internet, but what this different writers trying to convey about abortion is pretty same, so to sum them up here’s a certain statement from Wikipedia which states like this “Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo prior to viability .” There are two different types of abortion which decides to which impression an abortion can be, either bad or good: first, INDUCED abortion, which is intended to do by mothers due to some reason which can be characterized as either therapeutic or elective, an abortion is considered to be therapeutic when it is performed to save the life of the pregnant woman or the fetus itself. And an abortion is considered to be an elective or voluntary abortion when it is performed at the request of the woman for non-medical reasons. Second, we have the SPONTANEOUS ABORTION also known as MISCARRIAGE, is the unintentional expulsion of an embryo or fetus before the 24th week of gestation cause by different factors like trauma. There are several methods for performing abortion first is MEDICALLY, second is SURGICALLY, which is considered to be a safety abortion then the third one which uses some HERBS which is likely performed by someone who is not a medical professional which results to unsafe abortion. To elaborate more about abortion lets proceed to our next questio n and that is ‘why women commit abortion?’ Women or soon-to-be-mom commit abortion (induced likely) because of some reasons and this so called reason varies from woman to woman. Some of the most common reason are to postpone childbearing to a more suitable time or to focus energies and resources on existing children. Here’s an additional reason why do they terminate pregnancy; one is the maternal and fetal health where the principle of double effects get in at the same time let’s also look at the principle of totality with regards to abortion, now, you might be wondering how the principle is related to this reasoning? Well it is because the principle of double effects is frequently cited in pregnancy and abortion. A doctor who believes abortion is always morally

wrong may still remove the uterus or the fallopian tube of a pregnant woman, knowing the death of the embryo or fetus; in cases in which the woman is certain to die without the procedure (examples cited include aggressive uterine cancer and ectopic pregnancy). In these cases, the intended effect is to save the woman’s life, not to terminate the pregnancy, and the effect of not performing the procedure would result in the greater evil of the death of both the mother and the fetus. As of the principle of totality, abortion is in total conflict with this principle because abortion leads to the destruction of faculties or powers in the fetus. But, there are some women who commit abortion for no reason, I mean though they have reasons, its sounds futile at all. Since we already knew what abortion is, and why do people commit abortion, lets now see, what makes abortion a very sensitive issue in the society, in which there are endless debate about this issue. Let’s see the ground of each panel; the pro-choice (who are pro in abortion) and the pro-life (who are against abortion). The source of debate, controversy, and activism about abortion, is the INDUCED ONE (mentioned earlier as one out of two types of abortion). In both public and private debate, arguments presented in favour of or against abortion access focus on either the moral permissibility of an induced abortion, or justification of laws permitting or restricting abortion. Abortion debates, especially pertaining to abortion laws, are often spearheaded by groups advocating one of these positions. Anti-abortion groups who favour greater legal restrictions on abortion, including complete prohibition, most often describe themselves as “pro -life” while abortion rights groups who are against such legal restrictions describe themselves as “pro choice”. Generally, the former position argues that a human fetus is a human being with a right to live, making abortion morally the same as murder. The latter position argues that a woman has a certain reproductive rights, especially the choice whether or not to carry a pregnancy to term. Let’s elaborate more; what politicians on both sides of the debate fail to acknowledge is the religious nature of the conflict. If one believes in an immortal soul that is implanted at the moment of conception, and if personhood is determined by the presence of that immortal soul, then there is little difference, in effect, between terminating a week-old pregnancy and killing a living, breathing person. Rational members of the pro-life movement do acknowledge that there is a difference in intent—abortion would be, at worst, involuntary manslaughter rather than murder—but the consequences, i.e. the death of a human person, are regarded by prolifers in much the same way. The trouble is that the United States government cannot acknowledge the existence of an immortal soul implanted at conception without taking on a specific, theological definition of personhood. Some theological traditions teach that the soul is implanted at quickening—when the fetus begins to move—and not at conception. Other theological traditions teach that the soul is implanted at birth. Some traditions teach that the soul is implanted after birth. And still other theological traditions teach that there is no immortal soul at all. One of the best kept secrets of the pro-life and pro=-choice movements is that the two movements ultimately overlap to the extent that they share the goal of reducing

the number of abortions. They differ only with respect to degree and methodology. So then with all these debates let’s conclude something that might be a solution to the ABORTION ISSUE. There were plenty of articles saying that ABORTION is GOOD or BAD on a CERTAIN SENSE or REASON. It is indeed an answer for a certain problem like when the mother is on a critical condition and the termination of the fetus is in demand. Or the woman was raped. Abortion is good on a certain way, on a valid reason (this is what the pro-lifers failed to see). It is bad on a sense that the woman just wanted to terminate the fetus for no reason or on a very low cognition just like the contraception failed, or the pregnancy is unwanted or unaccepted, the woman bearing the child isn’t ready, it is partly their fau lt, so why kill the innocent baby, perhaps abortion is the answer or not to a problem, there are still indeed a lot options given. There are a lot of FACTORS that must be considered in judging as to which the ABORTION IS FOR GOOD OR BAD. AS A SOLUTION TO THIS, IT IS OKAY TO LEGALIZE THE ABORTION BUT IN A WAY THAT BEFORE DOING THE PROCEDURE, THERE MUST BE AN EXTREMELY PSYCHOLOGICAL AND HEALTH COUNSELING, THE RATIONALE ALSO MUST BE REALLY VALID, BECAUSE WE CANT DENY THE FACT THAT ABORTION IS A MURDER REGARDLESS OF WHAT SCIENTIFIC REASONING YOU DO BELIEVE, BECAUSE YOU CANT SEE HUMAN AS A MERE OBJECT ONLY, IF THE REASON IS NOT VALID THEN THERE WOULD BE NO PROCEDURE DONE, IF THERE IS, THEN IT IS CONSIDERED THAT THE WOMAN COMMITED A MURDER.
