A significant archaeological collection was excavated in the 1960s at the home site of John and Priscilla Alden in Duxbury, Massachusetts. This collection was reanalyzed in 2001 to determine if it was, in fact, from the home site of John and Priscilla Alden. Reanalysis indicates that this site, unlike the presumed location of the Aptucxet trading Post in Bourne, Massachusetts, does date to the correct time period for occupation by the Aldens. This study also found that the architectural reconstruction of the site is flawed and that the house looked much different that it has been previously presented.
