LYCO
- Catarrh: dry nose stopped at night, must breathe through the mouth (Am. c. Nux,
Samb.); snuffles, child starts from sleep rubbing its nose; of root of nose and frontal
sinuses; crusts and elastic plugs (Kali bi., Marum).

Sambucus nigra
- Dry coryza of infants (sniffles); nose dry and completely obstructed, preventing
breathing and nursing (Am. c., Nux).
- Dyspnoea : child awakens suddenly nearly suffocated, face livid, blue, sits up in
bed; turns blue, gasps for breath, which it finally gets; attack passes off but it again
repeated; child inspires but cannot expire (Chlorine, Meph.); sleeps into the attack
(Lach.).
- Compare : Arum drac. in Miller's asthma.
- Attacks of suffocation as in last stage of croup.
- Cough : suffocative, with crying children; worse about midnight; hollow, deep
whooping, with spasm of chest; with regular inhalations but sighing exhalations.
- Cough deep, dry, precedes the fever paroxysm. ALLE KE NOTES

MEDORRHINUM

- Sensation of action in bones; obstruction at root of nose as if mucous membrane
was hypertrophied.
Intense itching in nose, internally near point, had to rub all the time.
- Very great burning in both nostrils when breathing through them.
- Coldness of end of nose.
- Entire loss of smell for several days.
- Soreness of outer wing (inside) of left nostril.
- Nose constantly running.

- Nasal catarrh, with continual running down throat.
Nose inflamed, swollen.
- Catarrh of posterior nares.
- Posterior nares obstructed, ameliorated by hawking thick, greyish mucus, followed
by bloody mucus.
- Heavy fluent coryza, with hard headache all day in frontal region, aggravated 10 :
30 A.M.
- Soreness and crawling feeling as of a centipede in left nostril in morning.
- Nose stopped up, cannot breathe through it in the morning; snuffles in children
not relieved by the other remedies. ALLENOSODES

PSOINUM
|Obstinate constipation: with coryza and obstruction of nose;

HIPPOZAENIUM
Hoarseness from the altered condition of larynx.
- Bronchitis : in the worst forms; esp. in elderly persons; where suffocation from
excessive secretion is imminent.
- Noisy breathing; loud snoring respiration before fatal termination; breath fetid.
- Cough and obstructed respiration, resulting from cicatricial contraction of mucous
membrane of nose and larynx; had lasted eleven years; patient presented picture of
decided cachexia.
- Respiration at first partially impeded.
- Cough commenced at Christmas and lasted till June.
- Whooping-cough.
- Patients cough severely and expectorate profusely, sputa usually bearing a strong
resemblance to the discharge from the nostrils.
- Tubercles, size of millet seed to a pea, of a grey, yellowish, or reddish colour.

- Given in phthisis, it diminishes expectoration, abates constantly recurring
aggravations of inflammation, and checks liability to catarrhal affections. ALLEN
