Nominators must note that the number of Scholarships for annual award is limited and that the strictest standards of
selection will be enforced. In assessing applicants for nomination, nominators will be expected to have regard to the awards
obtainable for postgraduate study or research from such bodies as the Research Councils, Government funded Research
Studentships and the British Academy.

To be lodged by the Nominator with the Secretary not later than 15th March. Final
awards will be intimated at the beginning of July and all Scholarships awarded in any
one year shall date from 1st October unless expressly stated otherwise.

5. If you have already graduated, please indicate what you have been doing since graduation,
including any postgraduate courses.

6. Programme of research during tenure of Scholarship. Please supply a concise title for the
Trust records, as well as whatever elaboration may be necessary to explain the project (about
500 words with appendices if required). It is in your interests that the elaboration is as full as
possible and states clearly the context and aims of the study as well as the methodology to be
employed, so that the Trust's Advisors can form a proper view of the project.

7. The names and addresses of two academic referees, other than the Nominator, to whom the
Executive Committee may refer as to the qualifications of the Nominee.

8. Where, and under whose supervision, the proposed research is to be conducted.

9. Will you be undertaking the proposed research full-time for three years (See Regulation
7)?

10. Are you applying for a postgraduate award from the Arts and Humanities Research
Board, the British Academy, or any of the Research Councils? If you have not applied, please
state the reason. (See Regulation 4).

11. State whether any other Bursary, Scholarship, or Fellowship is held or has been applied
for (excluding those under 10 above); and, if yes, give particulars of the amount and duration.
(See Regulation 6).

12. Any other relevant information that will assist the Trustees in reaching a decision.

As the Scholarships are primarily intended for immediate post-graduate research, applications are necessarily made before
the results of the Final examinations are known. It is of great assistance to the Selection Committee if the Nominators advise
the Trust, immediately after results are known, of the class of Honours attained, and of any outstanding merit which may
have been demonstrated.
