Authenticity is the new currency in MLM
AUTHENTICITY: the quality of being authentic; genuineness - http://dictionary.reference.com/ browse/authenticity?s=t INTEGRITY: is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions. Authenticity, Integrity and Honesty.
If you've been online for more than a month, you already understand the "spin" on words people employ to create the illusion they are building a large and profitable MLM. A post on facebook read: "I just signed up 15 new people into my business in the last 4 days and I'm ready to help 15 more this week." Ask yourself - "Is this possible?" "What kind of training would you get if your upline signed up 15 in the last 4 days and is looking for another 15?"

Is it possible? Sure, if you have a system and/or people in place to take your new recuits step by step through the training process. So I checked. Turns out I was familiar with her company and the convoluted (and time consuming) placement issues within the comp plan. With a little more digging and some pointed questions it turns out she had 15 people in her back office of MLSP*, not in her MLM as she implied, 1 of which had signed up for the 2 week MLSP trial period, 14 of them had signed up for the free webinar of which 11 of them had not included a phone number on the capture page, 2 of them were bogus email addresses and one had provided a legit email and phone number.
*MLSP is an online lead generation system

Her answer to being honest in her marketing efforts? "It's posture !" She's still using the same techniques today as she skips from one lead generating/blog training system to the next.

She is making 3 very big mistakes.
One is not being authentic, not having the integrity to admit the truth and honesty is secondary to the need to create the appearance of success. Having posture gave her permission to lie.

I know where she's coming from. I learned the same things at the knee of my first "guru".

The guy dumped me when I refused to take pictures with the luxury cars and the beautiful house as a backdrop in the photos of myself. Implying they were mine. The system he provided for us was a lie from beginning to end. "We help people for free" until we 3-wayed the guru onto the phone with our prospects. Then he systematically bashed the company they were with and signed them up in "our" perfect company. Nothing felt right and that unease drove me to start searching, for something, I knew not what, and I found Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor, Zig Ziglar, Bob Burg and John David Mann to name a few. Personal development became a huge part of my life and I realized, over time, that my heart, soul and mind were at odds with each other. I wasn't being authentic. Honesty and integrity was extremely important to me and I couldn't subscribe to the definition of posture the way it was presented to me. Without realizing it I became an opportunist, thinking I was becoming an entrepreneur. I followed and distributed every shiny nickel that came across my path. This next training was going to do it. That training was the magic bullet. This system was going to do it. But always one piece of the puzzle seemed to be missing. This guru left that out and that guru didn't tell the whole story and I was busy - doing nothing. Don't mistake movement for achievement. It's easy to get faked out by being busy. - Jim Rohn http://www.searchquotes.com/quotes/author/Jim_Rohn/ So I stopped. For nine months I did nothing. Analyzed what I was doing, what was working, what wasn't working and I needed a mentor who understood where I was coming from, where I was going, what the problems were in the industry, how those problems could be overcome, how we could help by providing only the tools people needed instead of the shiny nickel syndrome of hopping from one thing to another and to focus on the very thing we were all here for: build a large network marketing business that provided residual, and passive, income. All with authenticity, integrity and honesty.
