Baal Sanskaar Shaala – Information Packag Package e Introduction All World Gayatri Pariwar, USA is engaged engage d in disseminating the eternal knowledge of ancient Vedic scriptures in the community via two fundamental elements of Sanaatan Dharma - Gayatri, which means righteous intellect, and Yagya, which means righteous actions. act ions. Being part of a global movement to transform the world into a heavenly place, where entire humanity would live in peace, harmony, and bliss, it aims to achieve that goal g oal by promoting some practical and easy practices to help inculcate divinely attributes in mankind. Our belief is that the thoughts are directly direct ly responsible for the results one experiences in his or her life, and therefore t herefore the key to real joy and success in life  – both at material and spiritual level, lies in the fact that our thought t hought process must be “fixed”. All World Gayatri Pariwar, our parent organization, has been promoting this very concept of “Thought Transformation Movement”

since more than sixty years, which has inspired millions of ordinary people across the world to realize their true divinely potential and become flag bearers of this t his noble mission. Any change in the society has to t o first reflect in the people tthat hat make it. And to this end, philosophy of Gayatri Pariwar suggests starting at the very elementary level – working on self. Once an individual goes through reformation, he or she inspires the immediate family to reform, which then leads to better bett er society, and eventually the entire world. In order to expect any positive changes in the society and in the world, it is also vital to groom our children at a young age and provide them with the right environment and guidance to nurture their overall personality. Baal Sanskaar Shaala program, designed with teachings of Sanaatan Dharma at its core, aims to t o do just that. Unlike a ttypical ypical curriculum based program, it also strives to impart knowledge (vidya) in the children, not mere education (shiksha). Knowledge, which helps them become better human beings.

Objectives Baal Sanskaar Shaala program aims to achieve following goals 

Make children aware of the heritage of Sanaatan Dharma, and of India

Cultivate the virtues of self-discipline, leadership, compassion and courage in children

 

Develop team spirit, and provide children opportunities to realize the importance of service

 

Identify, and tap the talent and energy of children in a constructive way

Class Structure

A typical class will look like following. Focus will be on interactive fun-filled sessions sessions,, the goal being identification and nurturing of talent that children possess.  

Indian Culture & Mantra (interactive/Q&A/story based session)  – 30 min

 

Hindi Language Class – 30 min

 

Vedic Maths – 30 mins (Group 2 only)

 

Yoga – 30 min

Prayer The class will begin with Gayatri Mantra and other Mantras, Mantr as, followed by very simple meditation.

Curriculum This part of the class will be a “classroom” “c lassroom” session where children will be taught about various subjects related to Sanaatan Dharma, Indian Heritage, and Personality Development. De velopment. Teaching style will be interactive, and story based. Some of the topics t opics that would be covered in this session are 

Gods and Goddesses: Stories about various Gods and Goddesses such as Ram, Krishna and

Ganesh would be covered and explained in lucid manner and relevance of their virtues in day to day life. Audio/video techniques will be used to effectively tell these stories.  

Indian Culture: Major festivals (such as Shivratri, Holi, Hanuman Jayanti, Krishna Janmashtami,

Navratri, Diwali etc) and rituals (Yagya, Birthdays, etc) will be discussed and explained in a scientific manner.  

Great Personalities: Over the course of the year the t he students will learn about several great

personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekananda, and Martin Luther King etc. etc .

Kids Corner: This section will focus mainly on personality development. Children will discuss

their challenges and experiences from everyday life, and will learn about techniques to handle those. They will also learn various positive traits, such as courage, c ourage, self confidence, compassion, honesty, through stories and interactive question answer format.

 Activities An important aspect of Baal Sanskaar Shaala is that it is designed as an activity based learning program. Children will spend almost fifty percent of the class c lass time on activities. The activity session will be focused on yoga, breathing exercise, mediation and collective mantra/Bhajan singing.

Maximum Capacity Registrations are on first come first serve basis. Please enroll your child at your earliest as seating is limited. Preference will be given to our current c urrent students. Capacity for calendar year 201 2012-13 2-13 is as follows

Cost The cost is $51 per child student for the calendar year 2012-13. Please write the check in the name of “All World Gayatri Pariwar, USA” and submit with completed registration reg istration form to ensure enrollment of your child. Please note that the fees are very nominal to cover basic material cost and not to run the entire program. It is functional mainly due to time and material mat erial donation of our volunteers, teachers and individual donors like you.

Policies and Rules Hours The classes will start at 10 AM sharp. Please plan on bringing your child at least 10 min min early. The class will end at 12:15 PM.

Parent Participation Participation from one parent is mandatory. There is lots of opportunity for parents to volunteer and participate. There is a separate parent group g roup activity happening in parallel where there will be self-study sessions with help of books and videos. video s.

Dress Code Ethnic wear is suggested, and shorts, miniskirts should be avoided. For days when children c hildren will be participating in outdoor games, parents will be informed in advance to dress them appropriately.

Food All World Gayatri Pariwar will provide healthy snacks to the children at the end of their class. c lass. Parents are welcome to sign up for snack sponsorship. If any allergies, it is your responsibility to bring your own food and work with your child so that he/she does not take any food from others.

Student Evaluation The goal of Baal Sanskaar Shaala program is to explain the children significance and values behind the concepts being taught in practical practic al and fun-filled ways, ways, and encourage tthem hem to reflect those values in

their life. Children will get ample opportunities to learn and a nd showcase their talent throughout the calendar year.

Communication Parents will be informed of important updates primarily via email. Additionally, they may also be contacted via phone. Please make sure email and phone number of the parents is provided with the registration form.

 Absence It is important for children not to miss a class, because it will disrupt the flow of learning. Many a times a topic will continue through more than one week, and an absent child may find it hard to adjust with the flow. Please inform the teacher at least a day before the cclass, lass, if your child will not be able to attend the class on a particular day. No more than three absences ab sences are allowed per semester.

Sickness Please do not send your child to the class is she/he is not feeling well.
