THE PROGRAM Research workers in various fields have turned to statisticians for help in planning their experiments, in data gathering, and in drawing conclusions from results. The government is heavily dependent on sample surveying to obtain needed information to solve pressing problems and to provide statistical projections for future. The curriculum therefore aims to let students undergo a thorough and comprehensive training in a particular area of specialization to serve the above purpose. This will be achieved through a well-advised choice of electives in statistics. The program provides syllabi which are centered with the theory and practice of statistics in different areas of specialization which could be industrial statistics, and labor or government statistics, statistics for the natural sciences, or statistics for behavioral sciences. The curriculum also provides a better emphasis on statistical methods while maintaining the current statistical theories, thus providing the student with a sound theoretical know-how and confidence in applying the statistical tools. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Career prospect for BS Statistics graduates range from teaching, data analysis in industries, government agencies, research assistants, enumerators/encoders and office works. DURATION OF THE PROGRAM 4 years ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 1. Pass the MSU-SASE. 2. Mentally and physically fit. 3. Other Department’s requirements.
