Emerson offers cost efficient battery backup solutions
for energy from various sources, like solar, wind, diesel
or grid-tied applications.
Description
Batteries are an important component in telecom applications for energy storage and
supply, especially in remote locations with unreliable or no grid supply. Solar, wind
and diesel generators are commonly used at such locations to provide energy. Here
the batteries offer the storage possibility for surplus energy, which bridge when other
energy sources are not present. It provides the insurance that energy is available when
needed.
Emerson Network Power offers a range of reliable and efficient
VRLA batteries, which are designed and tested for rough conditions
in remote locations. The batteries offer high cycle capabilities during daily charge and discharge conditions, and have very good
partial-state-of-charge capabilities.
The gel range uses a special silica for acid immobilizing to avoid
stratification; it makes this type suitable for vertical and horizontal
mounting. The 2V cells are fully compliant to the OPzV standard,
and are optimized for very long backup times. Due to the tall slim
cell structure, they allow efficient placement in 600 to 900 mm
deep rack structures.
The AGM range offers a more compact design suitable for horizontal
mounting, allowing easy access for maintenance on the terminal.
They are best suited for 400 and 600 mm deep rack structures, and
are optimized to perform more rapid discharge and charge cycles.
As high temperature is one of the main life cycle limiting factors, Emerson offers a range
of batteries specifically designed for such operating conditions. Our advanced technology batteries offer up to 15 years of life at 35° C. All designs are optimized to low float
current needs, delivering high efficiency and long field life.

Application
Designed for a variety of renewable and hybrid energy
applications including: telecom cell sites powered by wind
and solar energy, diesel generator-battery hybrid supplies,
remote/off grid sites with unreliable power supply, “SHS”
(Solar Home Systems) and “RAPS” (Remote Area Power
Systems), access nodes and repeater stations.
