Beach report card: April 2014-March 2015
Water quality is tested for indicator bacteria year-round at 324 locations statewide —
445 sites April through October — by various public agencies. Heal the Bay analyzes
the data, assigns grades to the beaches and advises that beachgoers use the
information to minimize their exposure to potentially contaminated water.

Grading: Points are subtracted from a perfect score of
100 depending upon the severity of bacterial counts.
The better the grade, the lower the risk of illness to
swimmers, surfers and bathers.
