MESSAGE FROM MRS. KENNAUGH What wonderful evenings we had at the high school auditorium for our Beagle holiday programs! The students did such an excellent job during the performances. Thank you to all who attended! Good attendance is so important in your child’s education. It is hard or impossible to replicate with a textbook or worksheet the high quality instruction that goes on in our building each day. As such, we are continuing to acknowledge and reward students who have excellent attendance each month. Tardies are also counted when determining who should receive the award, and you may wonder why. Essentially, when students come to school late, they not only interrupting their own learning by being gone for a period of time, they interrupt the learning of others when they arrive to class once instruction has begun. School begins at 8:40, and we hope that your children are coming to school regularly, on time, ready to learn! The weather has been frightful outside recently! We go outside unless the wind chill is below zero, so please help your young child stay warm outside by reminding him/her to bring cold weather gear each day. Hats, gloves, snow pants, and boots are all highly recommended. Please be aware, especially if your child walks to school, that our student safeties do not work when the wind chill is below zero. As always, if you have any questions, or would like to discuss any concerns, please contact me.

PTO NEWS
Box Tops: The current box top contest ends next Friday, December 20th. The winning class will be treated to cookies and hot cocoa. Staff Treats: We have a super staff at Beagle and we want to say thanks with some holiday treats. We are looking for folks to bring in about 3 dozen of their favorite treats. We need the items at Beagle on Tuesday Dec. 17 by 9 am or you can bring them in on Monday Dec. 16. Make sure to mark the treats "Goodie Trays". Monday you can drop them off at the office or Tuesday drop them off at the cafeteria or the office. The office opens at 7:30 am. Also volunteers are needed to help assemble the trays on Tuesday Dec. 17. It should only take a few hours to do the assembling and then we will distribute them. If you are able to help out, please go to http://www.slyreply.com/app/sheets/y7aavwqrs1me/

CLOTHING REMINDERS
Many times students come to the office in need of dry clothes or shoes. Sometimes we are able to find something for them and other times we have to call a parent to bring something in. It might be a good idea for students to keep an extra set of clothes and shoes in their locker. You never know when they might need them and if it you work, it might keep you from having to take time off.

TARDIES & ABSENCES
Please call in your child’s absence as soon as you know they will not be at school. Our phone line is open 24 hours at (517) 925-5480 and you may leave absence information on the voice mail anytime. Please leave a detailed message including your name, your child’s name, teacher, and reason for their absence. If your child will be tardy and needs to order a hot lunch, please indicate their lunch choice in your message. Lunch choices must be made by 9:00 a.m.
