As we look at your child’s development so far this year, conferences are a perfect opportunity for you to discuss how your child is progressing academically. In order to make your conference as successful as possible, I would like to offer the following suggestions. Think about your questions and/or concerns before you arrive. You may want to write yourself a note so that you don’t forget what you want to ask! Some ideas of questions include: how is my child behaving; how are they progressing academically; do you have any academic or behavioral concerns; and, what can we do at home to support my child’s learning? I also suggest discussing the conference with your child afterward. Remember to share the positives and the suggestions for improvement; they are both equally important. End-of-the-day Pick-up: If you are picking up your student at the end of the day, please do so in the front of the building. Pull forward as far as possible; we have adults out front to assist walkers with crossing safely, so please be mindful of pedestrians and follow the instructions given by our adult workers. Please do not park in the pullup area and leave your vehicle. That is a No Parking Zone. If you wish to come into the building, please park in a designated parking place and wait for your child in the entryway near the cafeteria. If you are parking on the street to wait for your student, please instruct your child to cross at the designated crosswalk areas only.

FREE POTTER PARK ZOO EVENT
The Community Mental Health Authority of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham Counties (CMHA-CEI) invites you join them for a free event at the zoo. “An Afternoon in the Park on Us” will be at the Potter Park Zoo on Saturday, November 23rd from 1:00-4:00pm. There will be face painting, food, music, story time, dancing with the turkey, goodie bags and free hats and mittens. Free parking and admission.

Purchase your holiday gifts ahead of the rush, even after the Fair has closed at school, through November 30th! Pick up those last few items that were sold out at the Fair. Purchases will be shipped to the school for you to pick up. Plan to come and enjoy the Book Fair and get a great start on holiday shopping while helping our library grow with the profits we receive from the Fair. Thank you for your support for our school!

Emergency Clothing Needed
We are in need of quality used clothing for our emergency clothing collection. These are the clothes we give to kids who fall in the mud, wet their pants, spill the lunch, etc. If you have items that your kids have outgrown, we can use them in the office. Also, if your child has borrowed any of our clothing, please launder it and return it to the office.

WINTER CLOTHING, CLOSINGS & DELAYS
With the arrival of winter, please make sure your child is dressed for cold and snowy days! Students will go out for recess unless the temperature falls below zero. PLEASE LABEL your child’s hats, gloves, scarves, coats, snow pants, with their name. It is common to have several wear the same color jackets, snow pants or boots, so labeling is helpful. During inclement weather, you will receive an Instant Alert call at your main phone number advising you of any school closings or delays. So please make sure we have your current number in the office. You may also check local radio and TV stations for this information.
