KSRTC is the first STU in India to induct Semi-low floor buses under Jn-NURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban renewal Mission) scheme. The buses are designed in-house as per the specifications and requirements, suggested by the Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India. These buses have features which are much improved over and above the minimum requirements. All these in-house designed buses are fitted with ergonomically designed passenger seats, wider doors, specially designed full length emergency door, wider window glasses with air ventilation. The response from the traveling public is overwhelming. The Government of India has appreciated the design of the bus drafted in-house by KSRTC as excellent and has recommended other states to consider this model.

CO2 MIG (Metal Inert Gas) “Inverter” type welding technology for construction of buses has been introduced to improve the quality of welding. This technology produces neat, clean, spatter free welded outer surfaces as compared to other types of CO2 MIG welding technology. This does not require further cleaning at the welded portion, no flux is required. It reduces the cost of welding by way of reduced material & power consumption. This type of welding improves the aesthetics at the welded portion.

The premium, executive and express class of services are operated to various destinations of inter & intra-state. The corporation has introduced inhouse designed air-conditioned Bus branded as “SHEETHAL”- ‘COMMON MAN A/C BUS’. The common man can travel in these A/c buses by paying lesser fare than the fare of premium buses. This A/c bus is made affordable to the common man.

Mu l ti pl ex i n g i n b u s e s
The up gradation of technology in passenger transport buses is pre-requisite and a continuous process. Multiplex wiring system in the buses is a new technology introduced in India.

KSRTC has initiated retro fitment of multiplex wiring in Jn-NURM buses. This technology helps in improving the maintenance efficiency and easy diagnosis of problems in the bus. The maintenance staff and the drivers are more comfortable with the technology and it saves their time and energy.
