5 years ago on my 8 birthday, I got a bike from my dad. Of course, I was very excited and wanted to try and ride it. The moment I rode on it, I fell. I was lucky not to receive any wounds or bruises and after brushing off the dirt from my clothes, I tried again. And yet again, I fell. I tried and tried again but still I can’t make the bike upright for 2 meters. It was getting late so I went to bed. For months, I rode and rode but still, I can’t maneuver it properly, sometimes, I almost get hit by cars and motorbikes. One time, I accidentally rode over a hump on the road and got a bloody wound on my knee after one of the bike’s gears hit me. When I move my leg, blood oozed out from my wound. After a few weeks, I was thinking of just throwing the bike away as I was very angry because I couldn’t control it. I then realized I shouldn’t give up because I still really wanted to ride a bike. So once my wound healed, I tried again. This time, my mom pushed my bike while I practiced balancing on my bike. I was then able to ride for 10 meters alone, I thought that I still needed improvement so I tried and tried again. After a while my mom got tired of pushing me again and again for 5 hours every day so I asked my sister to help me. With my sister, I steadily improved and was able to ride for a minute. One day, my mom helped me again and we biked in an old part of our neighborhood. It was a place full of old houses that looked creepy at night. As I was struggling, some guy who was jogging came up to us and told me how to keep balanced. He smiled at me while he was talking and taught me how to maintain a proper posture while riding. When he said goodbye, I thanked him for his help as jogged away into an old house. When me and my mom were returning home, she accidentally let me go of me and without me knowing, I was finally able to ride a bike. I joyfully rode and rode happily pedaling down the street. After a while I fell down again because I awkwardly hit a tree, but at least I was unharmed.

I will always remember that day and whenever I achieve a goal, I always remember that old man who helped me ride my bike, telling me to never give up.
