THE PEOPLE OF CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH GATHER FOR SEPTEMBER 30, 2012 EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

THE WORSHIP OF GOD

11:00 A.M.

GATHERING FOR WORSHIP
PRELUDE Air from Water Music George Frideric Handel (1685 - 1759) John Dautzenberg, organ Jason Smith From Wisdom Emerging
ST. DENIO

WORDS OF WELCOME HYMN
1.

From Wisdom emerging, we fashion a space for people converging in safety and grace, to shelter the freedom of one and of all in Love without border or boundary or wall. Faith’s journey reclaiming, we blaze a new trail with others, exclaiming: “Let justice prevail!” Rejecting worn paths that oppress and mislead, we walk in community, cherished and freed! Forever exploring, we seek to learn more of Wisdom’s outpouring, of Love’s open door. Amazed at the mysteries and graces we find, we joyfully share them with all humankind. The future progressing, we move through its change, old systems redressing, new patterns arrange; protecting all freedoms with every new choice, we follow the Spirit and raise our clear voice!

CALL TO WORSHIP

Kristin Campbell

Vindicate me O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and mind. For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in faithfulness to you. Do not sweep me away with sinners, nor my life with the bloodthirsty, those in whose hands are evil devices, and whose right hands are full of bribes. But as for me, I walk in my integrity, redeem me and be gracious to me. My foot stands on level ground; in the great congregation I will bless the LORD. INVOCATION THE PEACE OF CHRIST Edgar Palacios Edgar Palacios

La paz del Señor sea contigo. Y contigo también. The peace of the Lord be with you. And also with you.

Choir: Let this be my supreme desire, my object and my prayer, until I stand before your throne to glorify you there: All: To lead a blameless life, O Lord, to trust you without fear, to bring my humble heart to you and know your love is near: Choir: To walk before you in the truth, to shun all evil ways, to come into your house to pray and shout aloud your praise: All: Let this be my supreme desire, my object and my prayer, until I stand before your throne to glorify you there!

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER Leah Grundset Davis Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
