What is Christian Discipleship? 1 Peter 3:15

fragrant life women’s ministry newsletter
We turn everything over to Him in prayer, and live only to please Him and glorify Him. It means we fear displeasing Him more than we fear what men may do to us or what they might say about us. One of the evidences of a sanctified heart is the readiness in which we tell others about Him. The light bulb went off. I needed to share the love of Jesus with her. I needed to tell her what he had done for me and that by accepting Him she could have eternal life. And one more thing, I needed to do it meekly and in a humble and modest way. You know what happened, we actually became friends and she listened when I shared the things of God with her. She would even bring in books for me to see if they were okay to read. I really don’t know if she ever became a Christian or not. She never prayed with me but I know seeds were planted and I hope to see her again one day in Heaven. A Quote I came across says it best. “Every Christian should be capable of defending the Gospel. In order to do so, set apart Christ as Lord in your heart, and in order to do so effectively answer with gentleness and respect.” anon

Praise & Worship:

Thank You
Ray Boltz

I dreamed I went to heaven And you were there with me; We walked upon the streets of gold Beside the crystal sea. We heard the angels singing Then someone called your name. We turned and saw a young man running And he was smiling as he came. And he said, "Friend you may not know me now." And then he said, "But wait, You used to teach my Sunday School When I was only eight. And every week you would say a prayer Before the class would start. And one day when you said that prayer, I asked Jesus in my heart."

Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave. Then another man stood before you And said, "Remember the time A missionary came to your church And his pictures made you cry. You didn't have much money, But you gave it anyway. Jesus took the gift you gave And that's why I'm here today." Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave. One by one they came Far as the eye could see. Each life somehow touched By your generosity. Little things that you had done,

Sacrifices made, Unnoticed on the earth In heaven, now proclaimed. And I know up in heaven You're not supposed to cry But I am almost sure There were tears in your eyes. As Jesus took your hand And you stood before the Lord. He said, "My child, look around you. Great is your reward." Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed. Thank you for giving to the Lord. I am so glad you gave.

Did you know that God keeps a good house? Did you know there is joy and goodness to be found when we desire to be in the presence of God? His word tells us we shall be satisfied. “Blessed is the man You choose, And cause to approach You, That he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, Of Your holy temple.” Psalm 65:4 Each day plan to visit with the Lord; spend time in His Word. He is full of love, mercy, grace and righteousness. As you visit you will bring more of His joy and goodness into your own home, as you learn to become more like Him.

Uncompromising
By Hannah Farver
Written to young women, Farver serves as a good example of how you don't have to know all the answers about what God wants; and yet, she is able to write a book that will help other young girls find their way to Him and to help others search for His Cause in their lives. An inspirational verse Farver includes in her book is Colossians 3:1-3 (NIV), which states, "Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, your life is now hidden with Christ in God."

Discipleship, The Road Less Taken

For Parent’s and Children I Couldn’t Love You More
by Matt Hammitt, Jason Ingram When Hammitt's third child, a son named Bowen, was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), the infant was required to undergo two major open heart surgeries. By God's grace he survived and is an integral part of the Hammitt family. However, during the recovery times, Hammitt wrote a song to his little son, assuring the child that no one could love the little guy more than Jesus.

When it comes to the word “disciple” do you ever wonder what that word means? Does it describe your own relationship with Jesus If you are a parent, grandparent, or if Jesus is simply calling you to tell children about him, then this is a book for you! Share the Christ?

Why this book?
Our life as women is often busy with a to-do list that is often over the top. Wouldn’t it be great to know how to place our priorities so they line up with how Jesus wants us to live? “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 1 Peter 3:15

Devotional

Women Reaching Women Through TESTIMONY and LIFESTYLE
Are you READY? Have you thought about who you would like to tell about Jesus Christ this year? Have you thought about answering the question, “What is the reason for the HOPE that I have?” Have you wondered what a Christian Disciple is and how to disciple someone else? Here are some thoughts to think about:

As a Disciple:

1. You will be saved and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ wanting to glorify God with your life. Isaiah 43:7 “Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him.” 2. You will follow Jesus Christ by studying your Bible, learning scripture and applying it to your life through a life of obedience. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 3. You will share your faith with others and pass on what you have learned in your study of God’s Word; both by your words and also by the way you live your life. 1 Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;” 4. You will be a person of prayer. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray without ceasing,” 5. You will be persecuted. John 15:20 “Remember the word that I said to you, A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.”

IDEAS FOR SHARING YOUR FAITH (One person at a Time.)
Focus on Jesus. PRAY to be a Bold witness for Jesus Christ! Communicate through scripture and personal testimony. Embrace the Scriptures enthusiastically and BE READY. Build relationships and community by sharing fellowship with one another. (Invite them to your home for a meal.) Be Encouraging Begin a Bible study together and be consistent. Invite them to church Listen to what they are saying and show LOVE. Express genuine humility, grace and forgiveness. Live your life as an example before them; be a light.

Go and make disciple of others… 1 Cor 9:16; Matt 28:18-20 “Discipling someone isn’t just teaching; it’s also being a friend!” Be Bold, Be Ready, Be Encouraging, Be Consistent, Be a Light, Be a Friend!

lluv2Greet4Jesus
by Mary Jane Robinette

It was a beautiful hot summer afternoon on August 23, 2008 when I was baptized in Lake Tahoe. What tremendous joy for me to publicly profess my faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It wasn’t long before it became discernible to me that the Lord wanted to use me to spread His message to others. I had already received God’s call to be a Greeter at church. It was soon thereafter I was blest with the fruit of the Spirit with a gift for writing God’s gospel messages. I had always dreamed of writing. It wasn’t until the Holy Spirit revealed His words into my heart that my dream became a sweet smelling fragrance to my fingers. My words became my prayerful aromas of God’s truths to be shared. It blesses me to write of my love for Jesus in the Fragrant Life Women’s Newsletters. Whenever I comment on our Calvary Chapel Joyful Book Blog on the internet a thrill of the presence of the Holy Spirit fills my heart knowing my words seek to harvest souls around the world. Our God uses us in ways we least expect. We are to be obedient disciples of Jesus Christ ready to share our faith with others. My prayer is that I will always have the joy of greeting for Jesus and this treasure of words to write. Yet I know that when God closes one door He always opens another. It is a test of our faith to always be ready to surrender to God’s Will.

Christ we are to be obedient to share with others the joy, the love, the overwhelming essence of having a spiritual union with the Son of God. Some people may not want to listen. Some people may say harsh words to you. We should never be afraid to speak the gospel of Jesus Christ. When we exalt the name of Jesus in conversation to others, we are sanctifying His name. As a believer our testimony is what the Lord does in our life everyday. We need to always be in readiness with just simple statements of truth of the gospel to share with others. We need voices ready to speak out to glorify the name of Jesus Christ and what His death on the cross did for us and will do for them. Our hearts are our sanctuaries, the place where we commune with Jesus Christ in worship and prayer. Our minds and bodies should exemplify the humbleness and obedience of Jesus Christ. We were bought at a price, we are possessions of our Lord and Savior. We are to walk in His ways and shine His light forward to all those we greet in our life. 1Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” Our fear is in not pleasing God. With humble hearts we are to be disciples of Jesus Christ.

We all have hard times, especially these days with the economy the way it is. Major setbacks in peoples lives are happening all around us. As Christians we are to use these circumstances to shine the light of Jesus to others. Do not have an introverted heart. Do not be afraid to share your story with anyone who is willing to listen. Do not allow the enemy to grow fear of doubt to speak your testimony. It takes courage and boldness to witness about Jesus Always be persistent and bold to speak about Jesus Christ. Some of us say but I don’t have a testimony. As my Christ and what He did for you, even to those that seem daughter reminded me when I said those words, we all to stubborn to be still to listen. I pray for all of us to have have a testimony. For some of us it is without incident, the courage and the wisdom to speak out and to greet just a quiet personal conversation with Jesus Christ. others by sharing what having Jesus in our life has done While for others their story is more powerful to unveil. For me I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior quiet- for us. Iluv2greet4Jesus on Sundays in church, at the grocery store, shopping at the mall. When you feel the Lord ly in my heart in prayer. I had realized that my parents tug on your heart in the presence of other people to share had chosen a religion for me; but I didn’t want or need a religion. I wanted to have Jesus Christ come into my heart the gospel message, speak in love. Let your words shine and be the Lord of my life. From that moment on He has His light on to someone that assuredly the Lord placed in guided my journey. When we surrender our life to Jesus your path.
