The photos are below are from a card that was given to me by a parent and student right
before my student teaching experience was coming to an end. On the Wednesday of my last
week of student teaching I decided to tell my students that I would be leaving their
classroom to continue my work on learning how to be a teacher. The very next morning I
had a parent, who I was very familiar with approach me with the card and asked to take a
photograph of her child and me. The parent explained that their child had been up all night
crying and upset about my upcoming departure. At that moment I realized I had made an
impact on a families life. To this day I still keep in touch with the child and her family.
“Dear Miss Calder,
I will miss you! Thank you for being my teacher. I liked when you helped me learn. My mom
appreciates how kind you were to me. Best wishes.”
