This forum will showcase world’s best practice in accessible
toilet and bathroom solutions through Changing Places and
will feature leading edge Australian examples.
It incorporates a program targeted at architects, planners,
developers, designers, access consultants, facility managers,
policy makers and anyone with an interest in removing barriers
to social inclusion for people with a profound disability.
The forum brings together expert presenters from a range of
backgrounds to discuss the many community and business
benefits of Changing Places.
This event will also include an expo of companies providing
Changing Places products and services.

The Hon Mary Wooldridge MP
Minister for Mental Health, Minister
for Community Services, Minister for
Disability Services and Reform.
Mary Wooldridge is the
Minister for Mental Health,
Community Services
and Disability Services
and Reform in the State
Coalition Government.
She was elected to the
Victorian Legislative Assembly in 2006
representing the electorate of Doncaster.
Mary has been at the forefront of securing
a full roll-out of the National Disability
Insurance Scheme in Victoria and has a
strong interest in ensuring that services
are effectively meeting the varied needs
of Victoria’s vulnerable families and
individuals.
Jill Garner
Associate Victorian Government Architect,
Victorian Office of Government Architect
Jill Garner is the co-
founder of Garner Davis
Architects and has
taught at both RMIT and
Melbourne University
in design, architectural
history and contemporary
theory. She is a regular speaker at
architectural events, awards juries,
seminars, local and interstate lectures,
and writes for a range of publications
and journals. Jill is an advocate for the
importance of architectural design and
innovation, and is the current Associate
Victorian Government Architect.
Jill’s standing, leadership and expertise will
help guide the audience on incorporating
innovative and inclusive designs.
Andrew Lannen
Portfolio General Manager QIC
Andrew has been a
property development and
management professional
for over 25 years,
managing and developing
retail properties for Shell
Australia and QIC.
Andrew will discuss QIC‘s commitment to
installing two Changing Places toilets into
the development of Eastland – the first
Changing Places toilets in an Australian
shopping centre.
Simon Knott MC
Director BKK Architects
Co-founder of BKK
Architects, Simon has
extensive experience on
a range of projects for
government, institutional,
commercial and residential
clients. He has also
tutored design classes and technology
subjects at RMIT University; co-hosts The
Architects on 3RRR; hosted ABC series
Good, Bad and Ugly; and is an active
RAIA contributor. Simon is an expert in
Environmental Sustainable Design and
is a vocal advocate for raising public
awareness of good design through his
media work, numerous publications,
lectures and exhibitions.
Francesca Davenport FRAIA ACAA
Accredited access consultant.
Principal, HSPC-Disability Access
Consultancy.
Francesca is a registered
architect with over 25
years of experience in
the design of health
care, aged care, and
rehabilitation facilities.
Francesca is the Chair of
the National Access Work Group of the
Australian Institute of Architects.
Francesca will present the approved
design specification for Changing Places
facilities in Australia.
Fiona Smith
Public Interest Lawyer
As former chair of
Victoria’s Business
Licensing Authority
and the Victorian Equal
Opportunity and Human
Rights Commission,
Fiona has significant
experience in reform leadership in Victoria.
Fiona’s State and National leadership and
expertise extends to her current roles
which include membership of Victoria’s
National Disability Insurance Scheme Task
Force, Policy & Research Adviser with
Trust for Nature, board member of Livable
Housing Australia and Yooralla. Drawing
on her professional expertise and personal
experience, Fiona will provide great insight
into the barriers faced by some members
of the community and how your business
can be inclusive to all.
Dr Rachael McDonald
Deputy Director/Head of Research,
Centre for Developmental Disability
Health Victoria and Occupational
Therapist, Monash University
Rachael is a clinical,
teaching and research
academic with an
interest in evaluating the
interventions and systems
that will enable people
with lifelong disabilities
to participate in community life. Her
research has moved towards including
economic evaluation. Rachael’s research
has been published widely and in 2015
she will be the Scientific Chair of the
National Occupational Therapy Australia
Conference.
Rachael will present her research on the
economic benefits of providing greater
access.
Joan Gains
Carer
Joan has been an active
community advocate
on many issues relating
to Cerebral Palsy (CP)
after her son Nicholas
was diagnosed with the
condition 19 years ago.
A fulltime carer, Joan is also a founding
committee member of the Cerebral Palsy
Support Network and has served on
the Committee of Management for the
Association for Children with a Disability.
She has been involved with community
and research projects, and has helped
to promote the active participation
of disabled people in mainstream
programs, particularly in Early Childhood
programming.
Joan will provide a parent’s prospective
on the importance of Changing Places
facilities.

Jodie Willmer (MC)
Chief Executive
Officer, Travellers Aid
Australia
Travellers Aid Australia
is a not-for-proft
organisation that aims
to provide travel-related
emergency relief to people with mobility
issues or those with a disability.
Jodie is the organisation’s youngest
CEO and represents Travellers Aid on the
Federal Government’s State Consultative
Committee (Victoria), providing strategic
advice on emergency relief issues. She
is also the President of Emergency Relief
Victoria and the Director of the Victorian
Council on Social Service.
Con Livanos
Associate, Disability
Access Consultant at
Equal Access Pty Ltd
Con has over 20 years
experience in the
building industry in
both the Private Sector
and Local Government.
Con will present the design concepts of
Changing Places toilets and share his
experiences in providing disability access
advice for a range of developments.

James O’Brien
Acting State Manager,
National Disability
Services
Until recently, James
worked on the ‘Every
Australian Counts’
campaign for the
National Disability Insurance Scheme
(NDIS).
James also has extensive experience
working as a consultant advising
a number of organisations on
communications, community engagement
and public policy.
James will identify clear pathways on how
disability service providers and others can
help drive an effective campaign.
Wendy Brooks
Lawyer, Moores Legal
Wendy has a strong
commitment to
philanthropy, the
arts and community
development. As well as
being Head of Business
Development, Philanthropy for The Trust
Company, she is also a Director of many
boards, including Scope (Vic), and serves
on the State Government Ministerial
Disability Advisory Board. Since acquiring
a neuro-muscular condition and requiring
an electric wheelchair, Wendy has a
unique insight into living with a disability.
Wendy will discuss the value of the
Changing Places project for the
community drawing from her personal
and professional experience.
Liz Kelly
President,
Association for
Children with a
Disability
Association for Children
with a Disability is a
not-for-proft
information, support and advocacy
organisation for children with a disability
and their families in Victoria. As a mother
to a 10-year-old with cerebral palsy, Liz
joined the Association to have an input in
changing the infexibility of the disability
services sector.
Liz is also a member of the Disability
Services Board, the Victorian Disability
Advisory Council, and the Board of
Children with a Disability.
Liz will provide a parent’s perspective
on the importance of Changing Places
facilities for families of a person with a
profound or severe disability.
Chris Porter
Director of specialist
access consultancy
firm, Architecture
& Access (Aust) P/L
Chris, a qualified
architect, and his wife
Diane, an occupational
therapist, saw an opportunity to combine
their skills and together formed the
business Architecture & Access in 1998.
In September 2012, the firm merged with
the Blythe Sanderson Group to form
Architecture & Access (Aust) Pty Ltd.
Architecture & Access provides access
consulting services across Australia and
is primarily involved in the review of new
building projects to ensure compliance
with the Access Standards and Building
Code requirements for accessibility.
Chris will discuss how architecture
can lead the way for a more inclusive
community.
