In 2000, Jemima Juniper launched Condiments, Herbs and Spices Emporium
(CHASE Ltd), a small shop selling organic herbs and spices based in

products, and is used to test customer response to ne# product ranges!

CHASE no# has a reputation as a pur)e$or o& high +ualit$ condiments, herbs
and spices, suppl$ing hotels, restaurants, ca&es and members o& the public in
London and south4east England! 5espite strong competition, particularl$ &rom
health &ood shops, CHASE has achie)ed impressi)e and increasing re)enues
o)er the last 6 $ears, and has retained a high proportion o& pro&its &or internal

spices and related products, #hich can be ordered b$ telephone, online or in
one o& the stores! A list o& regular customers is set up on a database, and $ou

in)entor$ s$stem *no#n as CHASE5 (Condiments, Herbs and Spices 5epot
s$stem), operating across a A7, #ith the database ser)er in the aterloo
IC" department! "he CHASE5 s$stem is used to support trans&erring internal
re+uisitions bet#een the stores and the depot, and also &or processing
customer orders and deli)eries!
"here is also the S08"S database (Supplier 0roduct 8rdering "ransaction
S$stem) #hich stores details o& suppliers o& the products that CHASE o&&ers to
their customer base, and enables purchase orders to be generated #hen
stoc* needs to be replenished on the basis o& prede&ined reorder le)els! 7o
purchase order details are stored in the database at present!
"he CHASE5 and S08"S s$stems are intended to enable sta&& to ta*e orders
&rom customers and ma*e purchase orders #ith suppliers!
Jemima recognises that e3tending the use o& in&ormation technolog$ in
support o& management decision4ma*ing can ma*e a signi&icant contribution
to the goals o& enlarging and de)eloping the compan$! A decision needs to
