Preparedness Evaluation
Directions: This self-evaluation is designed to help you diagnose the areas in which you are lacking in your preparedness plan. Most people think they are prepared but in reality, are not as ready for a disaster or traumatic event as they have been mislead to believe. Use this evaluation to determine what steps you need to take in completing your own preparedness plan.

Surviving “In-Place”
YES NO 1. Do you have enough food stored for every member of your family to eat a nutritious meal 2x each day for 1 month? 2. Do you have enough food stored for every member of your family to eat a nutritious meal 2x each day for 3 months? 3. Do you have enough food stored for every member of your family to eat a nutritious meal 2x each day for 6 months? 4. Do you have enough food stored for every member of your family to eat a nutritious meal 2x each day for 1 Year? 5. Do you know how to raise small livestock such as; chickens, rabbits, goats, etc? 6. Do you know how to can/preserve meats, fruits & vegetables? 7. Do you have a wide variety of heirloom seeds stored (enough for 2 years)? 8. Do you know how to garden in containers in an urban or suburban area where land is scarce? 9. Do you understand what your nutritional needs are in a survival situation? 10. Do you know how to procure water in an emergency if the water stopped running? 11. Do you have enough water stored for 1 gal. per family member per day for at least 30 days? 12. Do you know how to prevent micro-organisms from growing in water while being stored? 13. Do you know how to deal with extreme heat and extreme cold in the event of a long-term loss of power (a week or longer)? 14. Do you have a survival plan in place in the event of a nuclear disaster or attack? 15. Do you have a survival plan in place in the event of grid collapse? 16. Do you have a backup generator with enough fuel to run for at least 1 month? 17. Do you have a stockpile of necessary medicines (antibiotics, analgesics, prescription drugs, etc.) and emergency medical supplies? 18. Do you know how to properly store them? 19. Do you have an ample supply of vitamins and supplements? 20. Do you know how to fortify or “harden” your home against invasion? 21. Do you own precious metals (at least 10 ounces of gold/500 ounces of silver)? 22. Would you know how to cook your food if you could no longer use your kitchen stove? 23. Would you know how to deal with human waste if you no longer had water? 24. Do you have a bug-out plan should you be forced to leave your home?

Do you have any of these items or tools:

Firearms & ammunition?

Are you equipped for and are proficient in any of these useful self-reliance skills?

Bugging Out
YES NO 1. Do you know how to build a comprehensive “bug-out” bag for each member of your household? 2. Do you know what wild plants in your area are edible? 3. Do you understand what your caloric needs are in a survival situation? 4. Do you know several methods of sanitizing water from a natural source so it’s safe to drink? 5. Do you know how to build an improvised water filter? 6. Do you have an escape plan (more than one route out of town) in the event of disaster? 7. Do you have rural retreat (a pre-arranged place for you to go in a rural setting with supplies and gear). 8. Do you know what the “rule of 3’s” is? 9. If you had to bug-out into the wilderness, could you build an expedient shelter out of natural materials that would adequately protect you from the elements for an extended period of time (1 week or more)? 10. Do you know how to start a fire without matches or a lighter? 11. Do you live in a location that rarely experiences natural disasters, such as tornadoes, earthquakes or hurricanes? 12. Are you free from dependence on substances such as; nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, pain killers, prescription medication, oxygen? 13. Do you have a portable emergency medical kit (blow-out bag) which includes trauma supplies like suture needles, medical gloves, tourniquet, bandages, clotting agents, etc.? 14. Do you know how to suture wounds, handle serious injuries or have medical training? 15. Do you have a shotgun and at least 1000 rounds of ammunition? 16. Do you have a rifle and at least 1000 rounds of ammunition?

YES NO 17. Do you have a handgun with at least 1000 rounds of ammunition? 18. Do you have more than 3 guns and ammunition for at least 1000 rounds each? 19. Do you live near a wooded area that is not privately owned with an ample supply of wildlife? 20. Do you know how to equip your vehicle for bugging out? 21. Do you have fuel stored (at least 1 tank-full) for your car and know how to stabilize it? 22. Do you know how to cook food without starting a fire?

Do you have any of these items or tools:
