CULVER HIGH SCHOOL
CULVER, INDIANA
MOMENTS TO REMEMBER port of them concern Ihe edu-
calion we gained 01 Culver High, but mostly Ihey are Ihe lillie
things thot were a port of each cloy. None of us will remember
lhe some things, because eoch incident differs in its individual
importance to us. Now we look for momenlS of glamour or
excitement, but--os lime mellows our outlook- we will re-
member the more wlid, routine experiences. We will be sUr-
prised someday, as we reminisce wit h old fr iends, that we re-
coil t he most tr ivial unexciting t hings t hat happened when we
were in high school. little everyday occurrences wil l pop up in
our minds . slumber parties, classroom boners, admirot ian
for Elvis, Bermuda shorts, getting a high grade in a tough sub-
lect, puppy love tragedies, sock donces, senior concessions,
closs ploy. junior dances, seniO<" tr ip, club octivities . these
are just some of the things we will wish we hod appreciated
more when we were ncor, for when we pouse to thi nk of yesler -
day, of youth-when we form these imoges in our mind-
these are the Moments to Remember of our days in Culver

MOMENTS TO REMEMBER FOR THE CLASS OF 1957
Do you remember the fall of 19S3} There
were SS freshmen beginning their high
school days, the future Sen ior Closs of 19S7.
Our officers were: Bill Ott, president; Tom
Cult ice, vice president; Royelle Sutch, secre-
tory; Ann Jurgensen, treasurer; Carl Wago-
ner, monitor committee; ond Royelle Sutch
and Corl Wagoner, student council. Betty
McKee and Roye ll e Sutch were selected as
aur candidates for the carnival queen. We
held two fudge sales during the year. We
wonted to save money for our Senior trip,
so we didn't have a class party at Christmas
On December 22 we learned of the death of
our be loved classmate, Dor is Sellers. Dur-
ing the year Paul Howard, John O'Conner,
Richard Pontius, and Howley Shepard with-
drew fram school and Robert Howard en-
tered
Slowl y but surely we climbed the ladder
toward our somewhat future g raduation
Our sophomore class had 47 members; leod-
ing us on were our officers : Mike Bennett,
president; Betty McKee, vice president;
J a net Zechiel , secretory; Roye lle Sutch,
trea surer; Don Savage, monitor committee;
and Cynthia Allen and Mike Bennett, stu-
dent council. During the year we held five
fudge sales ,and at Christmas we spent a tit -
tle of our hard-earned money on a closs
party. Our candidate for queen of the
American Legion show w<;ls Betty McKee
Shirley Bassinger, Jerry Miller, Homer Per-
sonet, and Carl Seals left during the year.
Three of our present class members joined
the class that year- Dove Middleton, Jay
Snyder, and Doris Gunter.
Suddenly we were juniors, and we cer-
tai n ly were busy ones. There were 46 stu-
dent s in our class that year. Our officers
were: Warren Curtis, president; Carl Wago
ner, vice president; Beverl y Price, secreta ry;
Betty McKee, t reasurer; Mike Bennett, mon-
itor committee; and Royelle Sutch and Don
Savage, student council. Do you remember
how hard we worked to learn part s, collect
props, and se ll tickets for our closs p lay?
"Off the Track" was a smashing success
Certainly no one will forget the day in eorly
December when our class rings arrived. Soon
it was March ond ag'Oin we worked to give
our ham supper, ond we found that the re-
sul ts were certainly worth the effort . At last
we were excused from classes to transform
the gym into a dreamland. Our theme was
" Moonlight Seronade" that May 4, and we
had a wonderful evening. Jerri Brown moved
to Chicago during the year, but we gained
two new classmates----Tommye Gloze and
Robert Mease ls.
At lost we were seniors. Now only a few
mont hs stretched ahead of us and then-
graduation. There were 45 in our closs. Our
capable officers were : Dove Middleton,
president; Corl Wagoner, vice president;
Sally Medbaurn, seuetary; Betty McKee,
treasurer; Warren Curtis, monitor commit -
tee; and Royelle Sutch and Dove Middleton,
student council. Ann Jurgensen and Lucin-
da Piersol left our class, ond Auda Fisher,
Don Herr, and John Whor ton entered. On
September 7 we launched our magazine
dr ive, and we went all out to go over our
goal of $4,SOO .The highest sellers in our
class were Sally Medbourn and Tom Cult ice
On October 15 we went to Chicogo, courtesy
of The State Exchange Bonk, where we vi s-
ited The Federal Reserve Bank, The Con-
tinental National Bank, and The Boord of
Trade. Do you remember the delicious
chicken dinner we had} We hod our third
car wash an October 20, the others were
held during the previous summer. We chose
blue and silver as our class colors, t he yellow
rose as our class f lower, ond "They conquer
who believe they can" as our class motto.
During the basket bo ll season we sold con-
cessions, and money for our Senior t rip
quickly reached an impressive total. Finally
we left on April 30 to see Woshington D. C ,
Williamsburg, and New York with our hard-
earned money. We returned to Culver on
May 6, tired but happy. Four days later we
had a wonderful evening at the pram given
