Maiocco called the Twenty-Eighth Regular Meeting of the Medford City Council to order at 7:00 P.M at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, Medford City Hall. ROLL CALL SALUTE TO THE FLAG RECORDS The Records of the Meeting of August 16, 2011 were passed to Councillor Arena. MOTIONS, ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS 11-579-Offered by President Maiocco Be it Resolved that the Medford City Council offer its sincere condolences to the family of Rev. Francis J. Nicholson on his recent passing. Rev Nicholson is the brother of Rosemary Nicholson and former Medford City Manager James Nicholson of Medford. 11-580-Offered by President Maiocco and Councillor Arena Be it Resolved that the Medford City Council commend and congratulate Richard L. DeNoyer on his induction as Commander-in-Chief of the V. F. W. at the National Convention held August 26, 2011 in Boston. Commander DeNoyer is a life member of the Medford VFW Post #1012. 11-590-Offered by Councillor Lungo-Koehn Be it Resolved that the issue of trash be discussed.

11-591-Offered by Councillor Lungo-Koehn Be it Resolved that the DPW Director update the council on the policy with regard to bulk items being dumped around the City of Medford. It seems like a common occurrence that has become a problem which is blighting our community. 11-592-Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that City Councillor remarks be discussed 11-593-Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that since the City has accepted section 19 of the state's new health care options under Planned Design and since the City has signed a six and a half year contract with municipal unions and since the state has offered workshops explaining what is being offered after the City signed on to the section 19 provision, a city representative now needs to present to the council and our citizens just what the city has gained and what has the employees gained in this 6 and a half year deal. 11-594-Offered by Councillor Penta Be it Resolved that the McGlynn proposed 7.5 million dollar Governors Avenue garage be discussed as it relates to the public meeting of last week.

Cecere Description of Alleged Claim: The claimant, Madeline Desesa, then age 78, of 100 Damon Road, Medford, MA, seeks compensation for injuries she suffered as a result of an alleged sidewalk defect at or near 116 Forest Street, Medford, MA on July 11, 2008. As a result of her fall, she suffered multiple abrasions and contusions to her face. She broke her nose and suffered a fracture of the radius of the right wrist. She was taken by ambulance to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital where she received immediate treatment for her injuries. She was later seen by various doctors and medical facilities. Her medical bills were in excess of $7,000.00. The necessary Releases have been obtained from the claimant.
