http://www.talktofrank.com/drugs.aspx?id=106#cost - Most information found on the FRANK website.

THE COST AND SLANG.
Prices can vary from region to region. The prices given here are an average of street prices reported from 20 different parts of England. A gram of coke powder generally costs between £30 and £50. A crack rock costs between £10 and £20. It's sometimes sold cheaper by the slice or as a 'clubbing rock' for about £10.

Depending on where you are in the country, the slang name for cocaine will change, For powder cocaine – coke, Charlie, C, white, Percy, snow, toot. For crack – rocks, wash, stones, pebbles, base, freebase.

WHERE DOES COCAINE COME FROM?
The leave of the Erythroxylum (coca) bush.

It grows in South America, on the Andes Mountains.
It’s been chewed by the local people for years to lessen hunger and for leisure.

THE RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS.
• • • • • May lead to heart attacks, by making the heart work harder. Raises blood pressure, causing blood vessels to explode in the brain. Panic attacks. Psychotic behaviour. Erratic, bizarre and violent behaviour.

EFFECT ON THE PUBLIC SERVICES.
The Police – A Police Officer taking cocaine could have a dire effect on their job, this is because cocaine is a Class A drug making it illegal, you cannon possess, sell, take or buy it without breaking the law. They would ultimately loose their job, and be taken to court. The NHS – If a doctor took cocaine this could lead to serious problems, because of all of its side effects. For example, if a doctor was treating a patient while high they could make some serious effects, because it is a high risk job if they make mistakes it could harm or even kill the patient.

STOPPING THE PROBLEM.
Many different strategies have been put in place by the Police. A few of my ideas would be –

• •

Stop it from the source, stop it being grown in the country and imported.
Stop the people distributing it, dealers. Tackle the addicts, reduce the number of people addicted to cocaine.

There are also organizations like FRANK who specialise in helping drug addicts to recover, I personally would strongly recommend people with drug problems to seek help with people that work for FRANK. There are also lots of Rehabilitation clinics in the UK which are renowned for helping cocaine addicts, because of its popularity.
