Sri Shridevi Charitable Trust (R) was born in the year 1992 with a mission to impart the best quality education to
students from all sections of the society. Ever since its inception, the Trust has been engaged in starting and
managing educational institutions in various domains, considering the needs of the society. Presently, the Trust
through its education wing, Shridevi Education is managing a hospital, diagnostic lab, College for Nursing,

Tumkur - the Home for Shridevi Education Institutions
Tumkur is a District Headquarters, situated about 70
km from Bangalore, the country's IT-BT centre, on
Bangalore-Pune National Highway 4. Tumkur is
known as a hub of educational institutions.This
academic city has been witnessing rapid
development. Naturally, it is a fine blend of urban

The Shridevi Education Campus
The Shridevi Education campus is developed on a
sprawl of 60 acres, providing for wide roads, easy
passages, spread out buildings with surrounding
yards, well laid-out horticulture, trees lining the
avenues and designated parking lots. The
comprehensive campus accommodates, in addition
to academic and administrative blocks, three hostels the Boys' Hostel, Girls' Hostel and the International
Hostel. The entire campus is net-connected,
providing access to the internet, seven days a week.
The campus is devised in a manner which promotes
learning and fosters college days' memories. The
hostels are placed very near to the college buildings
and has well equipped Gym with an experienced
trainer.

Computer Science & Engineering
This popular stream of engineering has unlimited scope
and is the favourite branch in the society. An allpervasive process of IT enablement promises very bright
prospects for this Branch.
This department has spacious labs equipped with the
most efficient system facility comprising high-end
configured workstations and servers with fail-proof LAN
systems, licensed software and full-capacity UPS system.
High speed internet connectivity and individual e-mail
IDs are provided to all the students and staff. All these
infrastructure and facilities are regularly upgraded as
technology continues to evolve.
State of the art lab facilities ensure that student have
adequate exposure through lab experimentation.
Academic Activities: The department has a technical
association, “C Planet”, to meet the students' need to
learn this ever-expanding field. The students actively
participate in all the seminars, group discussions, mock
entrance examinations, etc., organized by the
association which helps in team work.
As a routine program, student visits are organized to
leading companies, IT fairs, technology exhibitions etc,

Department of
Electronics & Communication
An ever challenging branch of engineering, Electronics,
like IT, pervades every activity of human life. This field of
engineering forms the framework for the
implementation and management of various other
departments.
This department naturally attracts the best of attention,
facilities and infrastructure. The labs are fully equipped
taking into account need for implementing the ideas
learnt in the classes, to ensure that the process of student
learning is complete without any kind of compromise.

adequate exposure through lab experimentation.
Academic Activities: The student association, “E-trics”,
is a marvelous place where the students' academic
activities receive a boost, enlarging the horizons of their
intellect and perception as related to the global
challenges. These are achieved through valuable
scientific lectures, seminars, popular lectures by
resource persons from various institutions and
organizations. Students are always encouraged to
participate in events that will enhance their knowledge
base. In deference to the institution's core policy, the
Industry-Institution interaction activity is ably done

Department of Bio-Technology
This nascent stream of engineering is a new era of
evolution. It brings together the fields of
pharmaceutical, agriculture, horticulture, immunology,
genetics and several other fields and uses it for
intervention in healthy growth of humankind. This
branch of study is in huge demand, on par with
Information Science, Computer Science and
Electronics.
Being one of the first among engineering colleges to
offer this Branch, it has been developed to a level where
research is being done in collaboration with national
research centres.
The laboratories are developed with utmost care so that
the students benefit from state-of-the-art equipment and
facilities.
Academic Activities: The department has a technical
association “Gene Home” to explore and expose the
intellectual abilities of students by conducting seminars,
workshops, research oriented programmes, contests
etc. Effective Industry-Institute interaction is ensured
through regular industrial visits, bio-tech fairs,
exhibitions and registration sponsorships to
conferences, workshops etc. The academic excellence

Electrical & Electronics Engineering
This branch is a smart and intelligent blend of two basic
streams of engineering. The basic electrical stream with
large applications through electronic engineering
stream will provide the knowledge of multifunctional
applications. The opportunities in electrical and
electronics are plenty.

Academic Activities: Best efforts are put in by qualified,
knowledgeable and dedicated staff in preparing the

this area. Educational visits to power projects and
industries are arranged regularly to help students gain
first hand knowledge.
Stalwarts in the electrical
engineering domain are invited to deliver expert
lectures. The students are encouraged to take part in
seminars/ workshops by presenting technical papers.

Department of
Mechanical Engineering
This core discipline is an evergreen branch of learning
and demand. The students graduating in this stream
have placement opportunities in varied fields including
IT. The Mechanical Engineering Department has been
provided with latest equipments. Students are
encouraged to develop basic and modern skills by
working on the machines at their disposal in the
laboratories.

Academic Activities: The department, through its
association 'Dynamech' is conducting Seminars,
Workshops, and Science Labs with the help of resource
persons drawn from various industries / organizations.
The department has been molding the students in a big

them in regular Industry-Institution interaction program
through visits to reputed industries. The Laboratories are
well equipped with modern machinery and equipments.
Students are assisted by the able and experienced
laboratory assistants. Faculty members actively oversee
the lab activities and help the students at all times. A
Robotics Incubation Centre has been set up to provide
the requisite know-how for building Robots in
association with TRI solutions, IIT, Mumbai.

Information Science & Engineering
This department aims at fulfilling the demands raised by
the booming IT industry. The department is well
equipped with hi-tech laboratories with high speed
internet connectivity. Highly qualified, experienced and
dedicated faculty helps students to enhance knowledge
in advanced technologies.

is managing. The management of Shridevi Charitable
Trust has recognized this vital component of the
corporate sector. After starting different courses in
engineering, the management thought of providing
management education for the rural and semi urban
students and started the post graduate department of

Vishveswaraiah Technological University (VTU) and
recognized by AICTE, New Delhi, with a rich curriculum

Research & Development Programs
Centre for Shridevi Research Foundation (CSRF)
was established in the year 2006, under the patronage
of Sri Shridevi Charitable Trust, Tumkur. The Centre is
recognized by the Tumkur University, VTU(Belgaum) and
Kuvempu University as an autonomous research
organization.
The aim of CSRF is to establish a world class research
centre, facilitating research in fields that are of direct
relevance to the student, academic and scientific
communities, and the society at large.
Soon the Research Centre will be creating a knowledge
output to be disseminated to the concerned, develop
technology to be transferred to the industry, and actively
organizing events for development of scientific
intellectual wealth.
The Centre also created a Society for Biotechnology &
Bioengineering. The existence of CSRF reflects the
Shridevi Education's passion to grow with the pace and
depth of developments in Indian Biotechnology scene.
Bio Technology- the Current Focus of CSRF
Today Biotechnology has emerged as an enabling
technology. It is an integrated multidisciplinary field
significantly impacting the entire bio-systems.
The centre is currently engaged in three major research
projects in Bio Technology, which are sponsored by
funding agencies like NABARD and the Department of
Science & Technology, Govt. of India.

Academic Vigilance

Teacher - Taught Interaction

Academic vigilance is the corner stone of ensuring
quality performance and serious pursuit. This
responsibility is executed by a team comprising a senior
faculty member as Academic Coordinator and two other
staff members aiding him in the process. Periodical
review meetings are conducted inviting all the faculty
members to monitor academic schedules such as
syllabus coverage, student attendance, internal test
performance etc. Student progress in each of the three
tests in a semester is sent to the parents. In addition,
continuous evaluation is done through weekly unit tests.
The Academic Vigilance Team also does student
counseling, wherever necessary.

In Shridevi Education family, every student is important.
A congenial atmosphere is created for the total
development of each student. A system of student
counseling is actively implemented to provide all
possible assistance to the students whenever they need
it. This is done by teachers who will have a wonderful
rapport with the students. The students feel quite at
home with these teachers and this interaction resolves
almost any issue that a student may come across.

Anti - Ragging Cell
A squad is appointed to actively monitor the student
zones to ensure that no incident of ragging takes place
in any form. This squad represents the institution's
compliance of AICTE expectations as well as the
institute's own initiative. Any action or reported action
amounting to ragging is dealt with stern action as such
an act is declared as a cognizable offence.

Scholastic Wealth
Shridevi Education has a very strong teacher selection
process. The multi-level filter makes sure that a teacher
selected meets the standards not only in terms of
qualification and experience, but also in terms of
perspective, passion and personality. This has led to
creation of an enviable wealth of faculty pool. Each
faculty willingly and voluntarily strives to ensure the wellbeing, good performance and success of every student.

Holistic Learning Program
Several programs for student skill development are
organized such as effective communication skills, soft
skills, interview skills, aptitude honing, discussion
abilities etc. These programs, which are mandatory, will
prepare the students to learn and hone their noncurricular skills that aid them in securing premium jobs,
career development and social interaction. A
Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with
Globarena Technologies, Hyderabad who is a strategic
partner in this program.

Enrichment Events
The management has earmarked enough resources out
of which several student enrichment events are
organized such as popular lectures, symposia,
seminars, workshops, re-tooling programs etc.

Industry Exposure
Educative and enlightening tours are regularly
organized for the students to visit top of the order
industries. These visits provide an invaluable exposure to
the students on several practical aspects of the industry,
its functionality, and many other elements which can be
only by a closer exposure.

Competitive Examination Cell

Student Excellence
The teaching-learning process receives utmost thrust to
ensure the standards implied by the institutional
philosophy. One of the ways in which this effort reflects is
the university results. Merit students are encouraged with
Cash awards and Certificates. All students scoring over
85% marks in the VTU examinations receive a monthly
scholarship of Rs 1,000/- for the whole of that semester.
Each year, the outgoing college topper is awarded Gold
Medal.

Parent Conventions
Student development is a collaborative effort by the
teacher-parent-student trio. This is fruitfully achieved at
Shridevi Education by organizing periodical conventions
with the participation of teachers, parents, and students.
These conventions provide a forum for deliberations on
the roles of all involved, focusing on the theme of
making the students “innovative and responsible
citizens”.

Student Development Cells
There have been various student clubs in every
department and institution of the Group, addressing the
extra-curricular academic, literary, cultural and sports
talents of the students. The management enables these
activities as a channel of strengthening the inner
personality of the students.

This is an effort to prepare the interested students to take
up various competitive examinations like GATE, UPSC,
MPSC, GRE and TOEFL. This program enjoys the
privilege of a separate library and reading room to give
a more serious dimension to this program.

enterprising activities is cornered in favor of the students.
The students have proven their enterprise in routine
responsibilities like managing the economics and
administration of the Shridevi Education hostels. In all
these instances, the Shridevi Education students display
a great deal of professionalism, business acumen and
industrious outlook. Programs to develop
entrepreneurial skills in students are also organized from
time to time.

Quality Circle
Quality circle encompasses quality across Shridevi
Education which includes quality of student
performance, institution's concern for quality and
teacher effectiveness. Students take active role in
discussing various issues pertaining to quality in every
domain on the campus. The whole idea is to ensure that
everything that happens at Shridevi Education should
meet certain minimum quality standards. As a result of
this policy and their persistent practice, the institution
has received ISO 9001-2008 Certification.

Training & Placement
Shridevi Education has a dedicated placement cell that
is involved in not only training students for placements
but also in organizing campus recruitments. Over a
period of time, Shridevi Education's placement cell has
developed a formidable industry interaction to ensure
placements for its students.

the past years, the systematic, streamlined and

Backed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure and highly

Adventure Learning Program
There is an Adventure Club that organizes tours to
various historic places, trekking regions, rappelling and
paragliding spots, valley crossing, wild life observation
etc. During these programs, students will learn through
adventures, community living and group activities. The
positive outlook that they develop during these tours will
manifest in an improved classroom living among the
students.

Resources &
Ambience

Library
The college has a vast library, with a rich collection of
books which are easily accessible to each aspirant. The
library is centrally computerized and Bar-coding system
is applied to each issue and return. Apart from Text
Books, Encyclopedias, Reference Books, and General
Books of education are also kept in the Library. A large
number of Journals and Periodicals have been
subscribed for enrichment of the knowledge of the
students. Five national dailies are also available.
Separate arrangement for their study has been made in
the library.
The college has an excellent library with a good
infrastructure and seating capacity of about 450
members. There is a reading room facility for both staff
and students.

Seminar Hall
An efficiently laid out and fully loaded seminar hall with
a seating capacity of 300 is built on the campus. The
venue is equipped with video camera, slide projector,
OHP, LCD projectors, PA system, ideal lighting, etc,
making it completely updated facility. The hall is
regularly used for placement sessions, meetings,
workshops, guest lectures, academic presentations etc.

Hostel
The institution runs three hostels - Boys' Hostel,
International Hostel and Girls' Hostel. All rooms are built
spaciously, provided with all necessary amenities.
The hostels are provided with round-the-clock wi-fi
connectivity, facilitating continuous access to the
students to the information needed for them to excel in
their studies.
The food provided to the hostel inmates is prepared with
utmost hygiene and catering to the need and taste of
students from various parts of the country.
Demonstrating utmost concern about the inmates'
health, only purified water is provided to them. Every
care is taken to prevent any kind of contamination in
food, water and living conditions in the hostels. The
hostel is run on not-for-profit basis and every care is
taken to make it as homely as possible to make students
comfortable enough to focus on their studies.
All safety and security measures are in place for all the
three hostels. Experienced and caring wardens are given
charge of the hostels, who act as foster parents to the
inmates, away from home.

Captive Power
A diesel generator is installed on the campus to provide
uninterrupted power supply to all the offices and
facilities during times of power shut down. The system is
steadily manned and maintained to optimize its use.

Transport
The institution runs several of its own buses to and fro
Tumkur city for its students and staff. These buses cover
the width and breadth of the city, extending the facility
meaningfully, saving the precious time of the
commuters.

E-Classrooms
All the classrooms are designed and built to create an
ambience conducive to attentive learning. The spacious,
well-ventilated and fully furnished classrooms are
equipped with all necessary electronic gadgets like OHP
/ slide projectors, LCD and PA system to make them fully
laden electronic classrooms.

Gymnasium
The fitness programme is the first positive step to a
healthier lifestyle. The college provides unlimited access
to our extensive aerobics and gym programme with
classes to suit all tastes and fitness levels. It is not enough
if the intellect alone is trained. The college takes to heart
the physical well being of the students. The gym is a
proud possession of this college. The students can come
here and do various exercises to keep their physique fit.
A visit to the gym not only fine-tunes the body but also
ventilates the mind.

Eatery
The Shridevi campus has high class canteen facility.
Hygiene, quality and fairness are the root words here.
The pricing is most rationalized and the taste, variety,
quality and quantity are all determined by the userdemand.

Green Campus
Over time, the spacious land of 60 acres is being
developed to be a tiny little green planet by itself. The
entire infrastructure necessary for running the institutions
will be built so that the man-made buildings will gel well
with the natural green wealth. Plenty of space is earmarked for trees lining all the avenues, nature-friendly
lawns, gardens, ornamental fountains, etc. Aforestation
program is also on the cards.

Sports Facilities
The college campus is equipped with several
international quality sports facilities and fitness centers
to promote physical fitness among the students and
faculty. Ample opportunities are provided for the
students to take part in all indoor and outdoor sports
activities. The Institution has facilities for playing, Volley
Ball, Basket Ball, Foot Ball and Cricket. Inter-College
tournaments, Inter-Branch matches and Athletic Meets
take place regularly, in all its grandeur of purpose.
Sports section has bagged several medallions and
trophies in inter collegiate and university level sports

Society Orientation

In deference to the ancient wisdom that said “not me,
but you”, NSS unit was started to inculcate social and
ethical values in students weaning away from an attitude
of indifference. This activity is headed by a Program
Officer. Students work in camps like Literacy Awareness,
AIDS Awareness, Blood Donation Camp, NCC etc.
Students participate in the annual 10-day service camp
with zeal and responsibility.

NSS receives big importance at the institute, since the
students become responsible and responsive students
only when they are exposed and experienced in societyoriented activities like the ones done under NSS.

Extra-curricular Programs
The institute ensures a well-balanced mix of learning
processes in classrooms, workshops as well as in ultraacademic events such as Arts, Music, Theatre, Sports,
Literature etc to harness the natural talents and skills of
every student.

Alumni Association
Shridevi Education institutions value their alumni greatly.
These alumni make it a point to bring back to their alma
mater, their exposure and experience. They maintain
regular contact with their former institute and extend all
possible guidance, counseling and tips for the benefit of
the current Shridevi Education students.

Other Activities
In addition, the Shridevi Education's efforts towards an
all-round development of its students, there are several
other activities that are done from time to time.
The Movie Club screens a film - technical film, feature
film, scientific film, documentary clips, art films etc, a
process of enlightenment through entertainment.
Student talents in cultural domain are displayed during
the cultural events like 'Sinchana' and 'Sri Utsav'. Plenty
of sports opportunities are made available to help
students to stay healthy and become stronger - mentally
and physically.
The Yoga club conducts meditation, pranayama
practice sessions and organizes spiritual discourses to
freshen up the student mind and develop an ability to
focus and enhance their mental faculties.
