1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 OBJECTIVE
This manual is aimed at outlining the various procedures and/or routines required to be carried out on the APG daily or when due.

It is assumed that the user of this Guide would have been familiar with:

OVERVIEW

The procedure will give guidelines to the OMC Engineer on CP backup operation on the APG40.

2 PROCEDURES
2.1 CP BACKUP
Period: WEEKLY (Every Friday) Reason: To transfer updated switch backup from the Hard disk to DAT tape for safe keeping. Reference:

Step details CP Backup
Open a command log file to save all work. If logged in from OSS, skip steps 2 to 4, go to step 6.

Verify to which node you are connected. Type at the C:\> prompt: C:\> hostname  the response would be either “<nodename>a” or “<nodename>b”, indicating either the A or B node. e.g. “saind1hap1a” or “saind1hap1b”

Print working state of the node: C:\> prcstate A response “passive” or “active” indicates the state of the node.

Check the CP files defined for RELFSWn, n=0,1,2,… C:\>cpfls –l ! Relfsw0, 1 and 2 should be listed !

Go in to CP mode: C:\>mml  You should get the normal AXE terminal prompt “<”

Deactivate Auto Dump: SYBUE; Print CP states: DPWSP;

Print RELFWSn file information: SYBFP:FILE;

Start Backup SYBUP:FILE=RELFSWx; ! usually, x=2 !

Copy Backup to Tape: Log on to the active node using PC Anywhere Note active node from printout in step 3! Insert DAT tape into tape drive on the Active node go to Start | Programs | Administrative tools (common) | Backup

! Wait for the tape to fully initialize ! From the window pane, select drives”. Navigate to L:\FMS\DATA\CPF\RELVLOUMSW\RELFSW2 folder.

In the view pane, select details to ensure it is the recent backup. Select the Relfsw2 folder. 11 Start Backup to tape Select Backup. A backup information window will come up) select ‘verify after backup’, ‘replace/append’ –if you want to append to existing contents on the tape. Enter in the description field, where “RELFSW_BACKUP”. Leave other values as they are. A report window would come up and notify you when backup is finished. Alternatively, using commands: C:\>ntbackup backup L:\FMS\data\CPF\RELVOLUMSW\RELFSW2 /v /d "RELFSW_BACKUP" /b /hc:on /t normal /tape:0 ! where “RELFSW_BACKUP” is the description ! To check if backup is finished using command: C:\>ps ! ntbackup will be listed as among the running processes if backup is still running ! 12 Check to see if backup is completed. C:\>ps  If NTBACKUP is no longer listed among the processes running, the backup is completed. Eject the tape with the eject button and store safely. 13 Update the Switch Records END.

. Terms/Abbreviations APG Explanation Adjunct Processor Group: consist of one small NT domain with only two computers (Node A and Node B). Node A acts as the Primary Domain Controller, while Node B acts as the Backup. Ericsson Active Library Explorer. Should have R9.1 database. Operational Instruction: from ALEX.
