CURRENT EVENT GUIDELINES 1. Current events are due every other week on Thursday, unless specifically told otherwise (holidays, field trips, projects, etc) 2. You must have a full news article from a newspaper, magazine, internet, etc. 3. Article must be English Second Language related (example: English taught in Puerto Rico etc.) 4. Article will be properly cited (bibliography-how to available on teacherweb page) 5. Article will be posted in a spiral notebook opposite of the full page summary.

6. The summary will be done in ink (blue or black). Points will be deducted for any other color. 7. Summary will include (in complete sentences and in paragraph form) the who, what, when, where, why and how of the article. Tell me what the article is about, in your own words. 8. Pay attention to details. Be sure to note them in your summary and any of your own thoughts of the article topic. One paragraph will be dedicated to your thoughts and opinions on the article. Did you understand what it was about? Are you for or against? Is this something to pursue in more detail? 9. A quoted statement from the article (properly put in quotation marks) must be included cohesively in the summary.
