I am shocked at the amount of obvious hatred and uneducated research for your article regarding Same-Gender relationships (located at http://floridafamily.org/full_article.php?article_no=140). Before I get started, understand that this game has been rated “Teen” by ESBR (see the full rating at http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=31564&searchkeyword=Star%20Wars%20t). As you can see, there are many sexual innuendo‟s in the game and as any fan of the game will tell you, the game is very suggestive. You have the option to sleep with NPCs, your companions, and also sell yourself as a prostitute; as well as forcing characters to commit suicide and use “Dark Forces” which can cause improper development for anyone. If you think that prostitution, sex, weapons, and drinking is more condemnable that homosexuality, then I truly question your parenting. The game also has a huge mention of the “Spice Trade”, which is the same as the American Recreational Drug problem. The rating alone for the game, as previously addressed, is „Teen‟. What keeps your child from creating an opposite sex character and run through their story? Your child is still getting the same effect. I see no reason not to allow LGBT individuals the opportunity to have this content available to them. Perhaps you are religious. I am a Christian myself, and an openly Gay male after finding a very friendly mate who encouraged me to go to Church every week. Why are you taking this so personal? If Bioware does deploy this feature and makes it an option at character creation and you want your child to be inconsiderate of others and participate in hate actions, then make your child show you that they have not created an LGBT character. If they did, tell them to delete it and ban them from the computer for whatever amount of time. Your child will meet gay men and women in their lifetime (about 33% of all Americans are gay) and there is nothing you can do about that. What LGBT people do in their own homes does not affect you. Do you not know how difficult it is to deal with anti-homosexuals when you are LGBT? I guess not; let me paint you a picture. Imagine every day in grade school being beaten up, name called, and receive unjust grades on assignments from anti-homosexual educators (who, by the way, should have their teaching certification taken away…but that is another topic). Next, imagine having a family that hates you and won‟t speak to you; they won‟t come to any concerts of your; they won‟t help you in your college decision. Your own mother and father disown you. These statements are all true of my life about 4 years ago until I found my mate in this world. He changed my life; he made me get out of my depression; he made me happy and laugh. Many LGBT teens and young adults face these challenges; some tougher, some significantly easier. I say this to say that many of us find MMO‟s as a way to escape the reality that the world (including people like you) hates you. I really hate having to have to have Sex with females character ingame to move on with some of my class story, and BW releasing LGBT characters will greatly be appreciated. As I said, if you have problems, then make sure your child is not playing an LGBT character. If you child is not considered a teenager, then they have not right to play the game and any content that may be view as harmful to them is not a proper excuse for anything.
