HOLLIDAY GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB
Happy holidays to all of the club members. It’s hard to believe that another year has gone by. I have to say that this year has been the best in memory. We have joined with Harbor Health and have made a lot of great friends and have done lot of really fun things together. We have added to some really nice things to the club like our new TV set and continue improve the club in lots of ways. We have enjoyed the company of our friends and have never forgot those who our no longer with us. I hope that all the club members here and at Harbor Health as well as all the staff at both agency’s have a happy and healthy holiday season with there families. See you all next year. Julianne.

A GREAT YEAR FOR NEW BEGININGS !
Season’s Greeting to all our club members and friends of the Valley Social Club! This year was a very exciting one for us because the merger of Birmingham Group and Harbor Health Services Sites has brought us many new friends. Options Social Club and Valley Social Club has become one big family. The general opinion is that the clubs are better and stronger! But here are a few thoughts from our club members at the Valley Social club about it all! “ I think the merger is great. I love our sister club and the people their. I’ve made friends and I think this move is a good thing for us. Kudos's” Sylvia H. “ I am very happy with the people at Branford. We get along very well and we love doing things together.” Julianne M. “We have had a seamless transition which is always the best kind.” Tom C. “ I think the merger is great and we all get along and have a great Relationship.” Gayle A. “The merger has been great for me because I like to meet new people.” Elaine M.

IMPORTANT WORDS FROM DR. MARIE SOLAZZO
Update on becoming a Non-Smoker
This year has been very successful in providing a variety of their goals toward becoming a non-smoker: programs to help individuals meet

NIC A meets on Wednesday 1-2 pm in the Maple Room and Friday 1-2 pm in the Art Room in the Clinic. This is a Twelve Step Nicotine Anonymous meeting for individuals who are trying to quit or have quit and need support. Individuals who continue to smoke but want to learn more about NIC A are welcome. John Dykman at 203-736-2601 Ext. 1431.

 Smoke Enders Group meets on Monday 1-2 pm This group enables clients to pick a quit date

and successfully quit within 8 weeks if motivated to do so. Nicotine Replacement therapy is provided to clients participating in the Smoke Ender’s group. Clients can stop by the front desk at the Clinic and ask to schedule an appointment with Marie Solazzo or call her directly at ext. 1371. Tobacco cessation counseling is available to help use the services such as the Quitline if one is highly motivated to quit. The quit line can be contacted at 1-800-quit now. Counselors talk with individuals about their struggles and offer suggestions to be successful. We are happy to be ending the year with many individuals who successfully quit smoking and use the services available. 2013 will bring a new year and more resources to help individuals through their medical programs.

ADVOCACY TRAINING IN HARTFORD BY DONNA K.
I went to the Advocacy Training Class in Hartford, CT. I found that it is very helpful. They had Senators coming to speak to the class. It was very informative! There was a lot of young adults attending the training. I was very impressed. There were people from Fellowship Place. I hope to be able to use my training in the future when we go to the Legislative building. I wish more of my fellow club members could do this training. I am glad I had a car to get there. I would do the training again.
