Deciphering West
West has been enigma to oriental (eastern)
civilizations for over two centuries now. In spite of
dwelling in our general trivial comparisons of
everything in our society with that in western; it
would be appropriate to analyze the issue rationally
to fnd inherent causes of the reat divide.
!efore loo"ing into this ultra developed human
civilization; let us frst pee" into decision ma"ing of
humans.
#very decision which we ma"e is product of two sets
of independent instructions$%
%Psychological$ which we gather for ourselves.
%Genealogical$ which we inherit.
&irst is psychological instruction; we start collection
information from the day we are born. 'tarting from
our birth we start to learn about the stu( around us)
gathering information. Where does all this information
go) where else but into our heads or psyches hence
psychological instruction.
!ut) is it all) is the information which we gather is
su*cient for us to operate throughout our life.
+efnitely no) there is a huge bul"y set of
information,instruction coming unwillingly to us.
-hat.s enetic instruction as it includes the all the ft
traits (+arwinian ft) from our ancestors which they
have evolved for us. -his ta"e our e/perience and
"now how to whooping 0.1 billion years.
I assume that we "now about what we "now so I shall
not delve into the psychological part over here. 2et us
ta"e the other more interesting one that is our
enetic "now%how into consideration.
enetically we all are selfsh) very selfsh. 3onsider
this scenario we have a famine situation a drought
you may consider let us ta"e 4 sets of people. In each
set we have two people and a vital loaf of bread
necessary for survival$%
• 'et 1$ In this situation we have 4 people
o 5ne is having bread.
o 5ther is starving.
o In set 1 bread owner is a selfsh guy he
instead of giving bread to the starving
person eats it for himself surviving the
famine and letting the other die.
• 'et 4$ In this situation again we have 4 people
o 5ne is having bread.
o 5ther is starving
o In this set the bread owner is selfess guy
he gives the bread to his companion)
6eopardizing his own survival.
We all have faced these famines a lot of times during
ice ages) droughts) 7oods) wars) deserts and many
more. We all are here alive because we all are that 8r.
'elfsh in the above story. -his selfshness has helped
us survive and hence it is genetically a ft trait and
hence become permanent in our genetic information
over the course of evolution of 0.1 billion years. -his
genetic inheritance creates propensity to be
greedy,selfsh.

2et us underta"e a pro6ect now) pro6ect to build a
'upermar"et. :gain we have two scenarios to do the
same 6ob$%
&irst) 'ocialist approach) ovt. has put its top
bureaucrats up to the 6ob. What happens ne/t is not
di*cult for us to imagine. 'ay 1;;cr. are allocated to
the 8) with full e*ciency <;cr. reaches to line
managers, developers again with 1;;= e*ciency
operation sta( gets >;cr. and fnally after lot of
deadline breaches and sad lined faces city gets a
brand new 1;;cr. supermar"et with mar"et value of
1>cr.
What has happened corruption$ and why it should not
be there. We teach these o*cers ?5@#'-A right from
childhood and yet this. !ecause ?5@#'-A is you can
only teach it is your psychological instruction some
0;%B;yrs. of e/perience while the propensity for greed
has a bearing of 0.1 billion yrs. of evolutionary history.
Whatever one may do the possibility of greed
overcoming these psychological barriers will always
be humongous. 'ocialism actually put our
psychological understanding) our psychological
instruction against our genetic instruction leading to a
mess within the civilian) which acutely re7ects
without the civilian into the civilization) which you can
evidently see around you in any socialist country be it
present or past.
:pproach 4$ : 3apital frm (Wall 8art) -esco) !ig
!azar) imagine your favorite) is up to the tas" of
super mar"et. : pro6ect of < months completes in C to
<.> or ma/ 1; months because earlier you set the
shop earlier you sell. 3ustomers get 1
st
class shopping
e/perience because better customer.s e/perience
more they return and more are sales. 3ustomers get
value added services) everything is 6ust world apart
there is clarity in all operations) optimization and
resourcefulness.
?ow have we achieved so much clarityD !ecause
clarity is within too. @ow psychological instruction
says I want to ma"e money) I want to optimize all my
processes) I want to do good for myself) my stoc"
holders) my employees) my brand) my company) my
customers and subseEuently society. 3apitalism and
only capitalism unleashes the creative side of you
because it has a solid genetic incentive at its
foundation. When you go to Western #urope or
:merica you see wide boulevards) so much clarity in
all operations and in whole civilization because clarity
is now in civilian too. Fsychological instruction does
not counter genetic instruction anymore rather both
operate in harmony. -hat is why west has been best
over the years of development. -ruest of saying$%
3apitalism has wor"ed very well. :nyone who wants
to move to @orth Gorea is welcome. H !ill ate
Iust to leave you on a high note I will Euote 8r.
ordon ec"o from the Wall Street$%
reed is good) greed for "nowledge) greed for love)
greed for se/) greed for wealth) greed for power is
indeed good) because greed cuts through and
captures the essence of #J52K-I5@.

3omments$%
1. Imaginative situations as what if Lbread was sharedM) thereby hac"ing
the system. -hat is not the cru/ of researches on selfsh gene. #ven in
case of sharing probability of survival in later case is lesser and that is
compounded over the entire course of evolution.
4. :nyone having doubts as do govt. ma"e supermar"ets anywaysD 8y city
Iabalpur itself has a govt. supermar"et) in K''N almost all
supermar"ets were socially controlled.
