Flier

October 5, 2013

Description: Create a Flier for Vouant Communication’s Annual Graduate Leadership Conference Program(s): Tools used: InDesign CC Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: I was given the choice of a few images that we were to use to create a flier for an event. It needed to be in black and white and contain all of the necessary information. Process: Take images and arrange them in InDesign, then still using Indesign insert specified text and information to create a flier for a specific event.

Event Ad

October 12, 2013

Description: Create an ad for a ficticious event using Microsoft Word to create it. Program(s): Tools used: Microsoft Word, Photoshop Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: Create an ad using Microsoft Word then create a date, time and location. Also it was important to say that the event was sponsored by a specific organization. Process: The image used was an image that I cut out of a magazine. After scanning the image, I then altered it using Photoshop. After placing the image into the docmument, I then created all of the surrounding information. The diagonal alignment was a choice I made when I saw that the dog’s head was tilted like it is. The colors used in the event ad are various of colors taken from the actual image itself.

Imaging

October 19, 2013

Description: Use Photoshop to edit an image. Program(s): Tools used: Photoshop Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: Using high quality cameras and using good photography principles, capture an image and then use Photoshop to edit the image. Process: The image is of Vertico Footwear’s Ped Powder. To take the initial picture I used a Canon SLR camera. After the image had been taken I used Photoshop to crop the image and then using the selction tool, I reduced the colors in the background. I left a little but of the orange in the wood to match the orange on the bottle.

Montage

October 26, 2013

Description: Use Photoshop to edit and combine multiple images. Program(s): Tools used: Photoshop Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: Take multiple images and combine them using layers and masks. Process: All images used in the montage were found from Google. The concept was something that I created. I took the original American Flag image and used it as a base for everything else. The text color was taken from other portions of the image and using the masking tool I was able to make a light background to make the text more easily visible.

Logo

November 2, 2013

Description: Create Three different logos for the same company. Program(s): Tools used: Adobe Illustrator Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: Create three different logos for the same company. Try to make them using the various logo styles available. Process: I created a ficticious company and began designing. The Top logo was an idea based off of the name of the company. I created a road sign. The middle logo was just a simple square with the initials of the company and the company name written at the bottom. Very straight forward and quite common. I really like the blue color used in this logo. The last one was created just using shapes. Of the three logos it is probably my least favorite but I received a lot of positive feedback on it from my peers.

Business Card

November 9, 2013

Description: Create a logo and then incorporate that logo into a business card. Program(s): Tools used: Illustrator Course: Comm 130 Visual Media Instructor: Julie Peterson Objectives: Using Adobe Illustrator or InDesign, create a business card using parts of a logo. Process: My mother is obsessed with lighthouses and as a result so am I. Using the pen tool in illustrator I created the lighthouse shape. I was pleased with the results because this was one of the first time I had illustrated an object with it turning out very similarly to what I had imagined. I love the fond Copperplate Gothic Light. I think it looks professional and powerful. I also love the green on the black background.
