Sitting here wide awake / Thinking about when
I last saw you / I know you’re not far away /
Close my eyes and I still see you / Lying here
next to me / Wearing nothing but a smile.
I gotta leave right away / Counting cracks
along the pavement / To see you face to face /
Thinking about the conversation / I know I’m
not one to change / I’ve never wanted nothing
more / But as I walk up to your door.
I’m standing in the dark / She’s dancing on the
table / I’m looking through the glass / She’s
someone else’s angel / It may sound stupid
that I’m wanting you back / But I’m wanting
you back / Girl.
And now I’m standing in the dark / Dark / Oh
/ Dark / Dark.
All I wanna do is hide / But I can’t stop myself
from staring / Wishing his hands were mine
/ I can’t stop myself from caring / And as he
turns down the lights / I’m feeling paralysed /
And as he looks into her eyes / Yeah alright.
(Chorus).
And now I’m standing in the dark / Dark / Oh
/ Dark / Dark / Oh. Dark / Dark oh. Dark / Dark
/ Oh. Oh / No.
I’m standing in the dark / I’m standing in the dark.
(Chorus).
And now I’m standing in the dark / Dark / Oh /
Dark / Dark / Oh. Dark / Dark. She’s someone
else’s angel / She’s someone else’s angel.
Whoa / Oh / Oh / Oh.
You say that you wanna live your life / That you
wanna take some time away from you and me /
You say that you’ll always love me still / But you
wont ever know until you’ve wasted all your time.
Whoa / Oh / Oh / Oh.
Everything I learned from you is never gonna
be true / Coz everything we had in life has gone
/ Gone / Gone / I said I’d give my heart to you /
But you don’t even want me to / Everything we
used to be is gone / Gone / Gone.
Babe now you’re like the rest of them / Never
be the same again / Not able to return.
(Chorus).
Now I’m going back to the start / You showed
who you really are that changes everything /
Oh / Now you’re gone.
Oooh. My heart is racing / She puts her hands
in mine / I feel them shaking / I look into her
eyes / And I tell her that it’s gonna be alright
/ And I’m never ever gonna make you cry / I’ll
fix your broken heart / I’ll make it beat again /
I’ll never let you down / On me you can depend
/ And I tell her that we’ll always be this way
/ Everyday that she’s the one that makes me
wanna say.
Oooh / Taking over me / Oooh / I’m in ecstasy.
Oooh / I just can’t believe that love / Love /
Love is taking over me.
Everywhere I go / Everything I do / Reminds
me of you / Just a picture on the wall / I’m
surrounded by it all / Gotta walk before I fall.
Fall out / Out on the street / Streetlight / Light
up for me / So far from where I used to be.
When she was mine / Everything was easy /
Everything was simple / Never felt so good /
When she was mine.
I wanted to remember / Never missed a
second / Now I wish I could forget.
Forget when she was mine / Mine / Yeah /
When she was mine / Mine / Yeah.
What I miss the most / Is talking up all night /
We laughed until we cried.
Now I’m breaking at the seems / Droppin to
my knees / Nothing left of me, no.
Like stone turned into dust / My heart wasn’t
enough / So far from where I used to be.
When she was mine / Everything was easy /
Everything was simple / Never felt so good /
When she was mine.
Forget when she was mine / Mine / Yeah /
When she was mine / Mine / Yeah.
Down on my knees / Gotta see here / Gotta
see her / Gotta see her. I tried to forget / But I
need her / But I need her / But I need her.
If you want love / You gotta give it out /
You gotta give it out / Give it to me.
If you want Love / Gotta do it now /
Gotta do it now / Give it to me / Yeah.
Wooah / Oh / Oh / Oh / Oh / You gotta make
it happen / Wooah / Oh / Oh / Oh / Oh / You
gotta make it happen / Yeah.
Lose control / We can sweat it out / We can
sweat it out / Give it to me.
What I need / Is everything you got /
Everything you got / So give it to me yeah.
(Chorus).
If you want Love / Gotta make it happen /
If you want Love / Gotta make it happen.
There’s a place we know, what’s cold enough
won’t grow / We have seen the dark and the
darkness took its toll / And the journey waits
for no one if no one breaks the mould / And
our hearts are stronger than we know.
Ohhhhh.
That you and I could learn to love again after
all this time / Maybe that is how I Knew you
were the one / That you could still believe in
me again after all our trials / Maybe that is
how I knew you were the one?
To awake and know we made it through
the storm and someone saves their sweet
embrace for you and you alone.
(Chorus).
Silence says we remember / We remember /
Two lost souls in the shadow / In the shadows
/ And that is how I Knew you were the one.
There you stood / Next to me / And you waited
/ Patiently.
I approached / Held you near / And you
whispered / In my ear.
You didn’t tell me / You didn’t need me / You
went and left it all behind. You didn’t tell me / You
didn’t want me / Don’t I ever cross your mind?
Friday night / Broken plans / Then I see you /
Holding hands / With a guy / Now its clear / As
I watch my world disappear.
(Chorus).
You didn’t tell me / That night / I should’ve
seen it in your face that you lied / Oh and I /
Should have known that after everything you
were so cold / So cold.
Oh and I / Should have known / That I am
better off on my own.
Thought love had come my way / When I saw
you face to face / When you looked at me that
way / In Covent Garden that day / What did I
do wrong to make you doubt me? / And why did
you change?
The girl I knew always made me smile / The girl
I knew wanted my first child / The girl I knew
wouldn’t make me cry / But she’s gone and left
home tonight / Left me on my own tonight
And the days we spent together / And the
endless movie nights / Said we’d always last
forever / And I never thought you’d lie / How did
I lose my best friend? / What happens now?
(Chorus).
The girl I knew wouldn’t want the things
I never had / The girl I knew told me I could
always make her laugh / Now she’s living on
her own / And she’s listening to sad songs
/ And I’m waiting for the day she calls my
phone / And she says that she was wrong.
The girl I knew / Please come home tonight /
The girl I knew always made things right / The
girl I knew I can’t live without / Coz I need you
home tonight / Just us / Just you and I.
If I close my eyes / I can see you smile / I can
hear the laugh and loving that I can’t get enough
/ I can pull you close / A moment just like this /
I could stop the world with only just one kiss.
(Chorus).
Touch my skin with your body / Love is taking
over me / Touch my skin with your body / Love
is taking over me.
Suicide / When I’m not with you / Shot of life
/ Sparks when I kiss you / Butterflies / At the
sight of you / And my heart / Will never be the
same again.
Oh Oh / Never forget all the things that I told ya
/ Oh Oh / I’m never gonna let you down coz…
Everywhere you go (my heart will follow) /
Down this broken road (I will be your shadow)
/ When your heart is burning cold / And your
world keeps throwing stones / Everywhere you
go / I’ll be there.
I’ll be there when your heart is breaking / I’ll
be there when your walls are shaking / I’ll be
there when your hope is fading / Oh.
The universe stops when you’re with me /
Fireworks burning endlessly / Won’t close my
eyes and I won’t miss a thing / And my heart
will never be the same again.
Oh Oh / Never forget all the things that I told ya
/ Oh Oh / I’m never gonna let you down coz…
(Chorus).
I’ll be there when your heart is breaking / I’ll
be there when your walls are shaking / I’ll be
there when your hope is fading / Oh.
No matter where you are / No matter what you
do / A thousand miles apart / I’ll be there / Coz…
(Chorus).
Some things I can live without / Like the way
that you let me down / I don’t wanna have to
read about it / Couldn’t even tell me face to face
/ Always doing it the easy way / Left wondering
how long you planned it / You’re moving on to
someone / I don’t belong to no one.
I can’t do this heartbreak anymore / It
keeps getting harder / Holding on to loves
impossible / Like climbing on waterfalls.
Head down in a crowded place / Then I saw
ya and I walked away / Wonder if you saw me
leaving / Didn’t really wanna have to say /
How you doing where you been these days /
That’s just the way I’m feeling.
You’re moving on to someone / I don’t belong
to no one.
(Chorus).
Yeah / I tried for you / Yeah / I died for you.
Lights out / And it’s cold now / And there’s
nothing but an empty room in front of me / I’m
wiped out / And the lines down / And there’s
no sound like there used to be with you and me.
Can’t sleep tonight / Keep on wondering why
/ I didn’t see the signs I didn’t realise / Now
I’m frozen / I had it all couldn’t want anymore /
More / But everything’s stolen.
And now I realize I could have been a better
man / I took it all for granted when I should have
took your hand / You were the only thing I needed
but I couldn’t see / Just look around there’s
nothing left of me / Everything’s stolen / Yeah.
Words out / I won’t stand down / Got your face
up now on every wall of every street / I retrace
every step I made back to / The place where it
used to be / You and me.
I had it all couldn’t want anymore / More /
But everything’s stolen.
(Chorus).
I knew you had to leave me but that don’t
make it easy.
You were the best of us / Gave me all you
had but I messed it up / Gave me all you had.
You’ll never touch my face / We’ll never play
these games / We’ll never be the same / I think
about that night / You never said goodbye / You
only walked away.
It’s like my heart stopped beating when you
walked away / And all that I believed in is
going to waste.
You’ll never know that I loved / You’ll never
know that I trusted you in every way / You’ll
never know that I missed / You’ll never know
that I think about you every day.
I never called you up because it hurt too much
/ Oh I regret that day I never dared to ask if you
would take me back / Scared of what you’d say.
It’s like my heart stopped beating when you
walked away / And all that I believed in is
going to waste.
(Chorus).
You’ll never know these tears I’ve cried /
That I’m sleeping on your side / And are you
thinking of me? / I don’t / I don’t know.
You’ll never know I’m up all night / You’re still
the best thing in my life / And if you ever come
back / I’ll never go.
Oh / You’re not the girl I used to know / How
the hell did you get so cold / I bet you kick
yourself to know / Where I’ve been since you
let me go.
Now, you wanna be with me / Yeah / But you
let your colors show / And it’s a long way
home.
Hey girl look at what you started / Played with
love got you brokenhearted / I thought you
were all I wanted / All good since the day we
parted /
Now the tables turned / Lessons learned / You
got burned /
Hey girl look at what you started / Played with
love got you bro-brokenhearted.
La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La.
Yeah / I was standing in the dark girl /
But now I’m in control / And we’re a million
miles apart / Tell me why you sold your soul /
Now you are the lonely one / Since you let your
colors show / Oh baby it’s a long way home.
(Chorus)
La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La.
[B.o.B]
Yeah / Hey Lawson what’s up? / Its funny how
the tables turn / I used to go for you but I was
not your main concern / It burned / I had to let
it burn / Expect the unexpected / You never
know what you learn / You never know what
you do / Or what you get in return / See life
is like a mission / You only get what you earn
/ But you were getting attention you really
didn’t deserve / But now I feel ambitious / I
kick the bitch to the curb / And you had been
booted / That’s just how I do it / If I had a
remote / Then you would be muted / You made
your choice and now you’re feeling foolish /
But ask me how I feel / I don’t give a massa-
two shits.
La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La.
(Chorus)
La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La / La.
People stop to turn and stare / Everywhere she
goes / Dollar signs and crimson hair / She will
steal your soul / Sets her sights on billionaires
/ All she wants is gold / She is straight up rock
and roll / I’m telling you she knows.
She knows…
Nobody does it like Juliet / Juliet, what you
do to me / The way she does it is criminal /
Physical and it’s killing me.
No denying these allegations / She knows
/ Nobody does it like Juliet / Juliet you are
haunting me.
Pulls you with her perfect smile / Pretty soon
your done / One more sucker pays the price
thinking you’re the one / Many men have tried
and failed / Captured by her gold / Stay away
from Juliet / You will lose control.
She knows…
(Chorus)
She knows…
1 / 2 / 3 / 4
This is not about me and the way I feel / It’s
about tonight / Tell me please / Baby what’s
the deal? / Does he treat you right? / Coz all
you do is talk about him / And I don’t wanna
know / Coz its hurts inside / And I got no say /
And I got no say.
He wont love you like I do / I guarantee / I am
happy for you / Got the guy of your dreams /
Do we have to go through this every time? /
He won’t love you like I do / I do / I do.
That’s the way you leave me / Love locked out
/ That’s the way you leave me / Love locked out
/ That’s the way you leave me / Love locked
out / Love locked out / Love locked out.
Look into my eyes, can you feel the heat / Can
you see the glow? / Tell me please / That you
want me babe / I just gotta know / But all you
do is talk about him / Time and time again /
And I got no say.
He wont love you like I do / I guarantee / I am
happy for you / Got the guy of your dreams /
Do we have to go through this every time? /
He won’t love you like I do / I do / I do.
(Chorus)
Yeah / Gotta stop pretending / I’m tired of
waiting / Don’t you know that I could be
your one and only fantasy? / People give you
nothing / Gotta keep believing / People say
the truth will always set you free.
He wont love you like I do / I guarantee / I am
happy for you / Got the guy of your dreams /
Do we have to go through this every time? /
He won’t love you like I do / I do / I do.
Na / Na / Na / Na / Na / Na / Na / Love locked
out / Love locked out.
Bring your sugar my way / Thinking of you
every single day / We don’t need to explain /
Are you ready? / Are you ready for love?
I can’t sleep when you’re gone / I feel like I’m
only half a man / I can’t wait ‘till your home /
Are you ready? / Are you ready for love? / Tell
me are you ready for love?
Meet me at the front door / Stop playing /
What you waiting for? / Leave your coat on
my floor / Can you tell me / Are you ready for
love?
(Chorus)
Whoa / Pull your body close / Whoa / Put
your hands on me / Coz you know I’m tired of
waiting.
I can’t sleep when you’re gone / I feel like I’m
only half a man.
I don’t want to be that guy / Who put the hurt
into your eyes / I don’t know who I used to be /
I don’t know him / Don’t know him.
Staring into danger / Losing all control /
Travelling through the darkness / Waiting for
the world /Running from my demons / Falling
through the floor / Every time I think I’m gonna
die / You bring me back to life / Back to life /
Back to life / You bring me back to life / Back
to life / Back to life.
I don’t want to be afraid / Breaking hearts is
not ok / I’ve lost all sense of reality / I don’t
know him / Don’t know me.
(Chorus)
Oh you bring me back to life / Oh no.
I don’t want to be that guy / Who put the hurt
into your eyes / I don’t know who I used to be /
I don’t know him / Don’t know me.
(Chorus)
You bring me back to life / Back to life / Back
to life.
You bring me back to life / Back to life / Back
to life.
You bring me back to life / You bring me back
to life / Oh yeah
Parachute / Parachute.
I was so high up in the sky / Like the sun
behind the clouds / In the engines of the
almighty / A blind man on the bow / Come
take me back up in your open arms where
I belong / So high up in the sky / When I
found my wings were gone.
Parachute / Parachute.
If I had a parachute I wouldn’t fall so hard like
I did for you / If my heart was bulletproof I
wouldn’t bleed so much like I do for you.
Wish I had a parachute / Wish I had a
parachute.
Wake me up with an army / I’m under your
command / If you’re coming to save me / Then
take by the hand.
Rescue me my love from the broken man that
I’ve become / Wake me up with an army, ‘cos
you’re the only one.
Parachute / Parachute.
(Chorus)
Wish I had a parachute / Wish I had a
parachute / Wish I had a parachute.
(Chorus)
Wish I had a parachute / Wish I had a
parachute.
– Writing this album
happened at a tough stage in my life, when
my world seemed to be caving in around me.
Chapman Square was where I had created
so many happy memories, but my strongest
memory of the place was the day it was
decorated with boxes of my stuff, ready to
move out. The last 5 years have been eventful.
On this incredible journey I have had to endure
a life-threatening operation - I can’t praise Dr
David Lawson enough for the incredible work
he and his staff undertook to remove a tumor
the size of a ping-pong ball from my brain.
There have been plenty of tough times with
people telling me I’d never make it, but there
were a handful of people who believed in me
unconditionally. I reserve the biggest praise
for my mum, dad and brother Paul, without
whom Lawson would never have been. My
mother Bernice; you’re the most amazing
person I know. When I had doubts you lifted
my spirits and made me follow my dreams; you
knew I’d never survive in an office job! There’s
not a kinder person on this earth, thank you for
everything you have done for me with all my
heart. I love you mum.
To my dad Tony; you’re my idol, inspiration
and best friend. I owe you for who I am today.
I remember you buying me my first guitar and
though hopeless, you taught me how to play,
one of the many lessons you’ve given me. Your
passion for the band is second to none. You’ve
stuck with me from the start, driving me to
every shit gig and encouraging me to better
myself. I am so lucky to have a dad like you.
To my brother Paul, or Brown as I like to call
him; you never fail to put a smile on my face.
I’ve looked up to you, always wanted to be like
you. I couldn’t wish for a more supportive and
protective older brother. Front row at every
gig, enjoying the music more than anyone in
the whole place! Love you bro.
The rest of my family, I Love you more than
you will ever know.
I have the best friends anyone could ever ask
for! I can’t single any particular person out as
there are so many of you. With you lot around,
there’s never a chance I will get too big for
my boots and for that, I thank you all. I’m very
lucky to have such a great circle of mates.
Ki and Katy; Ki you’re my song writing
soulmate. I only hope you will remember me
when you’re writing for top artists all over the
world, but when you can’t find that chorus…
you know who to call! Max, I have so much
to thank you for, you literally dragged me out
of all the shit in my life. As soon as I met you
I knew you would be a best friend for life.
Andreas Moe, thanks for helping me with my
production skills and mastering my first ever
Logic demos! Joey, you put up with a lot! You’re
an incredible person. From the bottom of my
heart thank you for looking after me! Finally,
George; thank you for filming all our YouTube
videos from the very start!
A massive thank you to the fans, every single
one of you who is reading this, it means the
world to me and the rest of the guys, thanks so
much. I hope you enjoy listening to this album
as much as we did making it.
And to Andy, Joel and Adam; what a journey
it’s been so far. Love you all.
And finally to Eric Barfoot, my grandad who
passed away just before our first single was
released. He always knew that I’d be here
one day and I know he can see me here now.
Thinking about you all the time and this is
for you.
Ryan x
– Firstly, I would like to
thank my mum Christine, dad Roger and sister
Hayley for always supporting me in everything
I have chosen to do. You’ve sacrificed so much
for me to live my dream, and supported me
from the first time I picked up drumsticks. I
hope one day I can be half as good a parent
as you have been to me. My grandparents
Maureen, Dorris, Grandad Terry, thank you for
everything you have done for me over the last
21 years, I am so grateful. Thanks also to the
rest of my lovely family; Jackie, Nick, Danielle,
Charlotte, Dan, Scott, Simon, Allison,
Jonathan, Martin, Thomas, Dave, Sue, Gavin,
Jo and Ashleigh.
Secondly, I want to say a massive thanks to
Andy, Ryan and Joel for making the last 5
years the best of my life, and for becoming my
best friends. There are not 3 other guys I would
rather live my dream with.
Thanks to George Webster, who has helped
us out so much over the years. I’m so lucky
to have had my best friend working on the
road with us. Thanks to all my other amazing
friends, Liz, Marie, Erin, Josh, Ollie W, Tim,
Anna, Chloe, Olly D, Charlotte, Kieran & Elliot.
Thank you to our amazing live team; Paul,
John, Andrew, Rob, and especially to Mikey for
going above and beyond for us, you work so, so
hard for us 24/7 and we appreciate everything
so much.
Thanks to John, Paul, Jeff, Ki, Chris, Matt,
Carl and everyone who made this album sound
better than we could ever have hoped for.
Lastly I would like to thank everyone who has
supported us as a band over the last 5 years,
thank you for coming to see us live, buying our
music, telling your friends about us, coming
to see us at signings or radio stations – you’re
the reason that we have been able to make
this album, so thank you from the bottom of my
heart for allowing me to live my dream.
Adam x
I feel very lucky to be spending this amazing
journey with 3 of the most talented, passionate
and completely ridiculous best friends I could
ask for. It’s my favourite thing in life to share
a stage with you and a massive privilege to
make the kind of music that allows us to play
like us. I love you boys!
Finally thanks to everyone I’ve ever made
music with, anyone that’s given me a gig and
anyone I’ve stupidly forgotten. I’m very lucky.
Lots of love,
Joel x

Writing them and performing them live. We had
a rough ride when it ended but I am glad for the
amazing times we spent together (everything
was easy!) You will always be an amazing and
special person to me. Thank you to you & your
family for making me feel welcome.
Here’s to next Chapter! #MakeItHappen
Andy x
– First off, thank you
to my Mum, Dad and Dave and the rest of my
family and my brother Lee for getting me into
guitar in the first place. Without family support
it’s impossible to do anything and I’m lucky
enough to have the best and most supportive
family in the world. Love you all!
To my closest friends who have always
supported me since long before Lawson; Luke
Hawes, Brian Kemm, Tom Johnson, James
Grayson and so many more! I would be here all
day but you know who you are, just a massive
thanks for everything over the years.
To some of the most inspiring people and
musicians I have ever met, who made me
believe that this can be a reality and to chase
my dreams - my music tutors over the years:
Carl Baker, Nick Preston and Paul Geary.
I consider myself very privileged to have
learned from you.
To the most cultured, travelled knowledgeable
man I’ve ever met – our tour manager Mikey!
You come everywhere with us, do the job of 10
men without complaining and keep us in check
day in day out. HUGE thank you to you. It’s an
honour to work with you.
– Mum and Dad…
I understand that quitting Uni to be in a band
is the opposite of what parents want to hear
from their son, but you understood this is
what I’ve always wanted and supported me all
the way. Mum, thanks for being so excitable
regardless of how insignificant the news was,
you never looked worried once. I literally
wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you
and Rob. Dad, thanks for making sure my feet
stay on the ground. My love for performing
comes from you. I will never be able to repay
you for the opportunities you’ve given me.
Nin you’re going to have the most amazing
year, you’re incredible at what you do and
deserve what you’re working so hard for! It
means so much to have the best and most
supportive family ever to come home to, I
love you all more than you’ll ever know and
miss you loads! Aunty Ellen we will always
remember you as the bravest, most loving and
beautiful person any of us have ever met.
Derek, thanks so much for being an incredible
teacher, friend and inspiration. Guy, Sean,
Mark and all my friends back
home it’s awesome to know that although
we’re all off doing our own thing nothing ever
changes! Cheers Gary for carting us round in
the trusty Zafira all those years, got the best
memories!
Ki, thanks for being as determined to make
this work as we are, you’re like the band’s 5th
member. We’re fortunate enough to have the
world’s best Tour Manager Mikey. I feel like I’ve
learnt more since you’ve been on board than I
did throughout the whole of school! Thanks to
John Shanks for helping me find my sound, no
show will ever be as nerve wracking as playing
guitar in front of you! Also, a massive thanks
to Paul LaMalfa (To Paul), Jeff Rothschild
and everyone involved in creating Chapman
Square/Chapter II.
And to the one and only George who’s been
with us right from the start, it’s thanks to him
that we will never forget any of this!
Huge thanks to the fans. Since we first posted
‘She’ on YouTube all that time ago you’ve
always been as passionate about this as we
are, thanks for buying the singles and most of
all, this album. Your presents, banners, tweets
and letters mean the world to us and we’ll
do all we can to give that and more back. We
honestly love you all and everything you do
that allows us to do what we’ve dreamed of
doing for most of our lives.
Thanks to John Mayer and the most important
album in my life Room for Squares, I haven’t
stopped playing since I first heard it. To Eric
Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mike Einziger,
Blink 182, The Edge, Andy Summers and
everyone they were influenced by. It’s because
of you that I absolutely love this instrument.
