Do schools Kill Creativity?
I totally agree with Sir Ken Robinson’s point on the education matter. Public school systems all over the world are very similar in a sense that they rather produce obedient and submissive type of human being. He said that all subjects are equally important whether it’s science or arts; in arts too we give importance to singing and dancing rather than drama or other creativity. Creativity is as important as education, since creativity makes person to think in a new way do new things. He gave example of Picasso, Shakespeare that their creativity made them world famous. Apparently, we should not be producing compliant students who do not dare to criticize or stand up for what they believe. It’s time for us to think hard what should be done to boost all the diverse creativity our children possess. We need to come up with something to fix our current public school systems. Otherwise, many of them will literally collapse in the end. The speaker concludes that “I believe only hope for future is to adopt new conception of human ecology. We have the gift of creative capacity and it should be used well because the future generation can do well”.
