Dear Brothers & Sisters, My eldest son Mohammed Baseer Ahsan Junaid passed away at the age of 23 years on23rd Ramadan 1429 corresponding to 24th September 2008, leaving all of us in theocean of grief and shock. He was suffering with a viral fever, the doctor Mohammed Abdul Salam Khan, a neurologist practicing in Hyderabad at his own clinic "LIFE CARE" Shah Ali Banda (my wife's own brother) was NOT able to diagnose the dengue symptoms in time, when the doctors at Yashoda hospital diagnosed it as a "dengue fever" it was too late! When we (my wife, I and my daughter) rushed to Hyderabad from Abu Dhabi, he was in comma for three days and was not able to speak to him; we were just looking at him and praying with ALLAH Almighty for his speedy recovery. We are wondering how this has happened all of a sudden, when my brother in law (Dr. Mohammed Abdul Salam Khan) was keep telling us when we were in Abu Dhabi nothing to worry it is just a viral fever and he will recover within a week time or so. He did the tests for malaria and typhoid and both of them were negative. The people over here at my office and in family are at the opine that it is a medical failure! He was a final year student of B. Tech (Mechanical) from Green fort Engg. College, Bandlaguda, Hyderabad.I, therefore, humbly request all of you to pray ALLAH (SWT) to place him in Jannat ul Firdaus; and for a sabr-e-jamil for me and my family. However, I suggest / humbly request you to come forward and let raise your voice to make the Doctors accountable for these kind of negligence’s, Government should also be required to take initiative in the formulation of some kind of law which makes the Doctors accountable to avoid this kind of mishaps. Law should be formed to make doctors responsible for patient death. Severe punishment like imprisonment and cancelling medical practice license etc. In my opinion if we don’t make the doctors accountable for the death of a patient the doctors will become indifferent and non-serious towards the treatment and care of the patient. The doctor must diagnose the disease with seriousness and responsibility. He must do his best to treat and save the life of his patient. If the death is due to negligence of the doctor, or his assistants, or wrong medicine, then he should be held liable for the death of the patient. A plea from a grieving FatherMohammed Z A Shakeele-mail: [email protected]
