Dr. Elliott Bennett-Guerrero: Paying for College
Director of perioperative clinical research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute and a professor of anesthesiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Elliott Bennett-Guerrero was one of seven subjects featured in the PBS Nova documentary, Doctors’ Diaries. Dr. Bennett-Guerrero also supports a scholarship at the University of Colorado Law School helping students with limited finances who are interested in becoming public defenders achieve their dreams. The Public Service Law program at the University of Colorado Law School covers criminal rights, criminal law, education law, environmental law, juvenile/family law, health law, immigration law, and public law as it applies between a person and the government. The program has a high success rate with a large percentage of students landing jobs in the public sector within a few months of graduation. The scholarship programs at the University of Colorado Law School are available to all interested students; there are no financial limitations. First-year students are automatically eligible for scholarships based on their credentials, providing they maintain the minimum GPA. More than 100 scholarships are available for second- and third-year students.
