Did you know???
Since 1995, over 2,500 trees have been planted throughout the USF campus. USF has reduced land area that is being covered and will be allowed to remain an open space by building taller, not wider. Currently, there are more than 4 miles of bike lanes on the Tampa campus. USF is a Charter Participant of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). USF’s Bull Runner Transit System is free to students/faculty/staff on campus; Over one million free rides are provided per year throughout the campus, connecting neighborhoods around campus, and to a HART station (Tampa’s Public Bus System). Established in 1995, USF’s Solar Energy Charging Station is the first 20,000-watt solar charging station in the United States. Since 1990, USF’s Physical Plant has operated an extensive recycling program in which solids are burned to generate electricity, scrap metal recycled, and some food waste used as compost by the USF Grounds department. USF recycled over 48 tons of aluminum and over 9,700 tons of mixed paper from 1996 to 1997. The

Businesses will demonstrate new products that will focus on ways to “go green,” and nonprofit organizations will be on site to provide helpful information. This annual event typically attracts several thousand participants.
