American College of Endocrinology
The American College of Endocrinology (the College) was established in 1993 as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. We began our philanthropic roots when we were established as the educational and scientific arm of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), dedicating our mission to promoting the art and science of clinical endocrinology for the improvement of patient care and public health. The vision of our Board of Trustees, all volunteer physicians, is to be the leader in advancing the care and prevention of endocrine and metabolic disorders. To help fulfill our mission, the College developed and continues to produce many valuable educational, prevention and disease awareness programs and activities. Through the years, our programs have evolved beyond AACE member-focused educational programs and initiatives to include patient-based awareness campaigns. Today, the College provides an opportunity for endocrinologists to better educate the patient population and the general public throughout the world on endocrine health through the following programs and activities:
y

Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU)

This certification program offers opportunity for eligible candidates to take the ACE Comprehensive Certification Examination (CCE), and allows the successful candidate to demonstrate acquisition of important knowledge and/or skills necessary to perform consultations and diagnostic evaluations for thyroid and parathyroid disorders through both diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine needle

aspiration (FNA). Candidates who successfully complete the CCE and validation process are awarded the Endocrine Certification in Neck Ultrasound (ECNU) designation. Obtaining the ECNU designation is important because it is recognized by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and allows those with ECNU to be directors of ultrasound laboratories and apply for AIUM Practice Certification.
y

Endocrine University® (EU)

An intensive, five-day curriculum for endocrine fellows, in their final year of training, who are AACE members, to receive instruction in procedure-based endocrinology and practice-based medicine. EU enhances the endocrine fellows¶ skills for the benefit of their future practice and patients.
y

Power of Prevention

Created in 2004, this multi-tiered patient awareness campaign helps educate and inform consumers on the importance of endocrine health and how to prevent endocrine disorders. This program is comprised of three major components that promote healthy lifestyles through physical activity and good nutrition for all ages: 1) School Visits, 2) An Educational Website, and 3) Prevention Publications.
y

Blood Sugar Basics

The Blood Sugar Basics program was developed by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) to provide useful information about blood sugar for people living with type 2 diabetes, including helpful tips on how to control high and low blood sugar levels. Consensus Conferences

These conferences address the issues for both the prevention and treatment of endocrine-related disorders, and provide recommendations that will equip physicians and patients with a better understanding and management of specific endocrine and metabolic disorders. These CME-accredited activities help to form a consensus that positively impacts improvements in the quality of care.
y

Endocrine Practice

The official scientific, peer-reviewed journal published to enhance the health care of patients with endocrine diseases through the continuing education of practicing endocrinologists.
y

ACE Self-Assessment Program (ASAP)

A core curriculum with updated information on the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine diseases. ASAP fulfills the cognitive needs of the endocrinologist to be effective and competent in delivering optimal endocrine care, and assists endocrinologists in preparation and maintenance of their subspecialty certification. It also provides an opportunity for endocrinologists to meet, in part, state licensure requirements for CME.
y

Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology [FACE] and Master of the American College of Endocrinology [MACE] (Convocation)

This program recognizes endocrinologists for their high standards of excellence and achievement in endocrinology and quality of care given to their patients. Fellows are honored with induction during the College Convocation, a

solemn and significant induction ceremony, during the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists' Annual Meeting.
