ENERGY EFFICIENT CAMPUS DESIGN
INTRODUCTION:
 The purpose of the thesis is to explore the ways through which we can design our
educational campus with an energy efficient approach.
 Architecture can be platform to teach friendly approach towards our environment.
Built environment plays an important role in education.
 Schools are often an uninspiring series of empty boxes with the primary objective to
adequately accommodate a maximum number of students, with little room for them to
develop a sense of ownership or involvement in their learning environment.
 Educational institutes are central to the communities they serve and should reflect
community values – like energy and resource conservation.
 Energy is one of the few expenses a campus can reduce without sacrificing
educational quality.
 Therefore, the need of the hour is to use effective means to make campus buildings
energy efficient
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
 Campus building as a catalyst for change.
 Using passive energy strategies to control operational energy.
 Understanding the nature of activities in campus and relating them to research aspect.
 Compact design
METHODOLOGIES:
 Research on passive cooling, day lighting and natural ventilation.
 Study of the relationship between green spaces and building.
 Searching new ways to incorporate green spaces and landscaping in the buildings.
 Study of international and local case studies matching our climate of Lahore.

CHILDREN HOSPITAL
A children's hospital is a hospital which offers its services exclusively to children (including
teenagers).
INTRODUCTION:
 Children's hospitals are characterized by greater attention to the psychosocial support of
children and their families.
 Present facilities, both specialized investigations & treatment are inadequate. They cater
only to acute illness.
 Existing beds are overcrowded. At times there are 2-3 patients on a single bed.
 Disease pattern among children are unique & child health covers the biological aspects of
life, characterized by growth & development & needs special research and care training.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
 Provide modern preventive, curative, supportive &allied facilities to children.
 Act as a referral hospital for the entire province in specialized child healthcare.
 Improve child health care & in around Lahore.
 Provide better training in the field of Pediatrics
 Be a center of excellence in the field of Pediatrics.
METHODOLOGIES:
 Create a supportive & friendly physical environment
 Make the grouping of children according to age and diseases.
 Provide play areas
 Children size consideration in design
 Children safety consideration
 International and local case studies
 Questionnaire surveys
