Engineering Technician Job Description Job Description: Medical Device Assembly Experienced electro-mechanical assembly technician for full time, contract-to-hire, day shift employment assembling our state of the art bone anchored hearing aids and accessories. Job Responsibilities ■ Assist in supervision of the work of Assembler/Technicians. ■ Ensure the production area produces product meeting Sophono quality standards and business requirements. ■ Assemble hearing aids and accessories. Drilling and grinding of housings, and assembly of electrical components. ■ When available assist in repair and troubleshooting of hearing aids. Document and trend findings. ■ Soldering (SMT) of small parts under microscope. ■ Operate with supervision CNC machine, Casting of plastic parts, then grinding, sanding and assembling. ■ Testing of completed assemblies. ■ Miscellaneous tasks to improve operations. ■ Practice necessary safety and security techniques. ■ Training of assemblers for new processes. ■ Occasional validation testing, and documentation of results. ■ Thorough documentation of all work completed. Job Qualifications ■ 5+ years in the medical device industry. Prefer hearing aid experience. ■ Experienced performing assembly, soldering, and inspection of small parts under a microscope ■ Excellent hand dexterity and hand-eye coordination ■ Troubleshooting of electronic assemblies ■ Detail-oriented, and takes pride in producing quality precision products ■ Must be able to read and interpret detailed electronic assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and work instructions Hearing aid assembly experience is a plus, but experience with other fine electronic devices is acceptable. ■ Familiar with ESD protection. ■ Familiarity with personal computers and applications such as Excel and Word. ■ Can work and stay motivated with minimal supervision. ■ High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 year degree preferred. ■ Must be able to communicate clearly (reading, writing, & verbal) in English. ■ American citizenship or legal work permit required. ■ Must pass background test, and drug screen.
