INTRODUCTION
  

Multiplexes currently constitute 4-5% of the 12,900 screens in India, the industry has a long way to go. In multiplex segment , PVR is the market leader in India. These multi screen theater have started more facilities for customers like – online ticket booking, attractive sales promotion schemes , home delivery of tickets, sms booking, toll free calling services etc

A brief on the various entertainment companies
Cine Max
Incorporated on May 22, 2002 under the Companies Act as “Cineline Entertainment (India) Private Limited” to primarily carry on the business of building, owning, and operating Multiplexes, Theatres and entertainment centers. The name of company was changed to Cinemax Cinemas (India) Private Limited on December 23, 2005.

DT Cinemas
Wholly owned subsidiary of the DLF Group, the largest real estate company of India.

Wave Cinemas It is a film exhibitor in India. The company, part of the Chadha Group, began its commercial operations in September 2003 with the launch of two multiplexes. Satyam Cinemas Owned by Superior Films Private Limited, a part of the Superior Group founded in 1970. The group has a large garments export business apart from its interest in running Cineplex's and is one of India’s top 50 garment exporters and manufacturers.

Inox Group

Parent Company-INOX Group Industrial Oxygen Co. Ltd., sets up plants for manufacturing refrigerants, PTFE (Teflon – gears, bearings) resin and other chemicals and Gases to building a brand called INOX – the most happening chain of multiplexes in India.
PVR Cinemas Parent Company -JV between Priya Exhibitors Private Limited and Village Road show Limited (PVR).

• INOX currently operates 40 multiplexes and 151 screens in 26 cities across India. INOX is also in an alliance with the Pantaloon Group • Net profit : 12.5 Crore

DT Cinemas
• 28 screens with an overall seating capacity of more than 5900 seats
• Net profit : 8.7 Crore

CINE MAX

• 25 properties with 74 screens
• Net profit : Rs 4.63 Crore

STRENGTHS
 





Superior quality ambiance Top of the mind brand recall and excellent customer services offered like order placement and delivery of food at your seat. Provide quality experience to cities, middle income groups in nominal prices without compromising on seats, sound and projection. Usage of technologically updated systems like Dolby stereo sound system, Digital Cinema technology, Xenon technology etc.

WEAKNESS
They need huge investments to expand their business.  Parking problems.  Alternate mediums like DTH, DVD or VCDs are becoming popular making the business unattractive.  Increasing competition.


OPPORTUNITIES
  

Expand business by increasing number of screens and targeting wider audience. Collaborate with networking sites and Franchises. Large film industry with more than 100 films released each year.

THREATS
  

Blooming competition from similar multiplexes Government’s interference with entertainment tax Consumer resorting to other ways of entertainment.
