In 1986 Jim Liebo married Tina. Like all young couples, they were madly in love and full of hopes and aspirations for their future together. They decided to start a family, and soon after, in 1989, Eric was born. He was a happy, inquisitive baby who very quickly became the center of their universe. Soon after Eric received his one -year MMR immunizations, he started having seizures. Despite all medical treatment, these seizures continued. At age four, Eric suffered a massive stroke that left him with the skill development of a two year-old. Now, at 19, Eric still requires full time assistance. The Liebo’s were devastated. “He was so full of life,” Jim recalls. “Watching your child go through something this devastating, without the ability to fix it, is one of the most difficult things a parent must ever do.” The same year that Eric suffered his stroke, Tina was involved in an auto accident. She was hit by an 18-wheel truck and required corrective surgery and rehabilitation. By 1994, the Liebo family had grown to include Zak and Lexi. “It was extremely important to us that we give Eric everything he needs to live as happy and healthy a life as possible,” Jim said, “but equally important for us is to ensure that Zak and Lexi don’t get overlooked in the process.” In 1996, Jim was hit by a drunk driver. He survived the crash, but unfortunately, his neck was broken. Yet again the Liebo family banded together to survive. After more than a year of rehab and surgery, Jim was able to function normally. Every time the Liebo family faced seemingly insurmountable challenges, they managed to make the best of their situation. During these trying times, Jim always had the feeling that he was being tested. It was at this point, that Jim’s promise to his son, “his promise to do good,” began to take shape. In 1999, Jim started a new high-tech consulting business in the Dallas area. To fulfill his promise, Jim’s business plan included a significant percentage of his profits be donated to fund stroke research. With the Enron crisis and the high-tech bubble bursting, Jim was forced to delay his promise. In 2004, another devastating incident befell the Liebos. Jim got up in the middle of the night, fainted, a recurring problem from his previous accident, and broke his neck again. This time it was really serious. He couldn’t feel anything below his neck. Given little chance to ever walk again, Jim made a remarkable recovery. Against all odds, Jim is only partially paralyzed and can now walk with the aid of a brace. More determined than ever, he is now ready take the most important step in his life – to make good on his promise to his son, “to do good in the world”.

The philosophy is simple, If we can offer the same service, at the same level and the same price, and give back to the community, then everybody wins.
